the thing about memories is that they can make us or break us and in luke's case it broke him and the person he used to be. they changed him into a person not even his best friends could could recognize him any more. these memories couldn't be forgotten. they would be forever burned into the of his head.
these memories haunt's luke every day of his life and remind him of how he can't change the past. it reminded him of how he would never be able to see her again or how he won't ever see her smile or hear her laugh. every time he thinks about her being gone he felt the pain in his already broken heart all over again.
