•"He wants you to help him write his new book as a deal for signing the contract?" Hanbin was shocked after learning how the meeting went. I couldn't blame him for his reaction. I would have responded the same.
"I know. I couldn't believe it either."
Today, I had a meeting with the directors and the CEO of my company. They asked me about the contract with Jay. So, I informed them about the changes he wanted regarding the time he needed to complete his work.
They agreed to his demands and said that the updated contract would be issued within the next week.
To be honest, something still kept bothering me.
Hoseok could have asked for anything, given his demand in the industry, and it still would have been accepted by our company because The Paperford needed writers like him. Not the other way around.
"Are you sure he doesn't have a fancy on you or something?"
Hanbin was very straightforward when it came to finding a reason for anything. He would not hold back from asking any sort of question that came to his mind.
And right now, I was caught off guard by one of his forthright questions.
Hanbin was unaware of my past relationship with Hoseok— or Jay, as he knows. I kept that part of my life untold for multiple reasons.
1) I did not want to dwell on my past and wanted to look forward to my future.
2) I didn't enjoy sharing every personal detail that was unnecessary for the other person to know.
3) I was not very fond of dramas in my life. So, no. Thank you.
Anyway, I was not planning on bringing my past into my daily life, so I just kept away from telling anyone, including Hanbin.
"I think he is a decent guy," I reasoned with an obvious truth. "That's probably why he did not ask for anything extravagant or weird."
"How do you know?"
Good question.
"I'm just guessing," I lied. "How would I know him?" Avoiding his gaze, I walked to my closet and picked out a pair of jeans and a top. "I'm going to meet Karine in 30 minutes, so if you'll excuse yourself, I'm gonna get changed."
He chuckled, watching me pace around the room, looking for one of my lost socks. "Alright. I'll be in the living room."
I sighed in relief when he left the room without prying me to answer his questions.
But then he stopped midway and turned back. "By the way, enjoy your shopping."
I gasped. "How did you know I am going shopping with her?"
His lips curled into a sweet smile. "You're easy to understand, Y/n."
My heart skipped a beat when he said my name. He usually calls me Seonbae out of respect, but there were a few moments when he decided to call me by my name, and made me feel all giddy.
"But if you decide to not tell me something, I will respect that and won't question you any further." He gave another soft smile and left the room.
Hanbin's words created a sense of guilt in me for keeping a big part of my past unknown from him; the person who had done nothing but simply tried to understand me in every situation.
