Colby was let out of the hospital, and back home. On the ride back, Colby did nothing but bounce his leg in the passenger seat and stay silent. He didn't want to talk, he wanted to sleep, but he also did want to talk. He was torn, so he just decided to talk.

"I..uh..fuck. I really messed up," Colby said, leaning back against the car seat.

"Colby, it's okay.." Sam tried comforting him.

"No, it's not, you don't have to keep telling me that to make me feel better. I fucked up and," He leaned up, leaning an elbow on his leg and holding his head, "I'm so fucking sorry. I made everybody worry, and didn't think anything through, I-" He cut himself off when he felt a hand on his thigh.

Usually, when Colby and Sam were in an argument and Sam was truly mad at him, he would stay quiet. But if he felt apologetic or wanted to comfort Colby in any way, he would but at hand on his leg. It never failed to calm Colby down for some reason and he didn't remember why they did it, it just sort of happened.

Colby almost started crying again, but instead he put his hand on Sam's and went quiet again.

"It's okay, I mean it. Nobody would think straight in a situation like that. The only thing I care about is that you're here, and you're safe with me," Sam's voice almost broke as he felt a lump in his throat. His eyes teared up.

The two were on a dirt road home because the traffic was horrific. Sam pulled over a little off the road and turned to Colby, wiping a tear. He wanted to be strong for Colby so Colby could be weak for once.

"Listen," He said, his voice soft, "We've made it so far in life, and your mom is so proud of you for making a name for yourself and really putting yourself out there. Right now, she's looking down at you, proud that you are her son. Everybody has bad things happen to them, but that doesn't mean you should just give up. People care about you. Your family, your dad, your friends, your fans," Sam took Colby's ringed hand into his and looked into Colby's eyes and smiled, "and me. I care about you so much, don't ever forget that." Sam said.

Colby had silent tears running down his face. He looked down at Sam's hands and held back sobs.

"I'm so sorry," He said in a choked voice that absolutely broke Sam's heart.

"I forgive you," Sam said, crying as well.

Colby pulled Sam into a hug that he accepted, and after wiping their tears they got back on the road. Colby turned on some music as they tried to lighten their spirits a little.

They made it home. They no longer lived in the trap house, so instead they were met with worried family members, though Jake was there in the background. After all of the family members let him breath, Jake walked up and looked at Colby.

"You alright?" He asked, his voice worried.

"Yeah, I'm okay, thanks for being here," Colby said, and Jake hugged him.

"Of course dude," Jake said, and he looked at Sam. He smiled at him and nodded, giving him a hug too.

"I came by to give get well gifts. They're on your coffee table. I have to go, please feel better soon," Jake smiled, and walked passed them waving. The two waved back, understanding.

The family stayed over a little longer reminiscing over memories with Colby's mother, and happy that Colby made it home safely after hearing the news. Many gifts were brought-- some sentimental, some new, some old, but mostly food.

They all had a big dinner and then the family members left, leaving a big mess.

Colby sighed. "Are you serious?" He asked, tired. Sam giggled, coming up with a plan on the spot, because that's what he was good at.

"It's okay, Colbs. Here, come here," He said, grabbing Colby's hand, and pulling him upstairs.

Colby didn't ask. Sam was always doing strange things like this.

He loved to follow him blindly, in a way. He knew that whatever the blonde had in store, he'd trust him every step of the way.

Sam pulled him into his bedroom where a very familiar teddy bear lie, and an envelope.

"Sam.. what..I've been looking for this bear," Colby smiled, and grabbed the fragile stuffed animal and squeezed it. Sam smiled.

"Your mom.. years ago, when we were just boys, gave me this teddy bear for when she was to pass, and gave me with it this note for you. She loves you very much, and knew how much you loved her teddy bear, so I kept it safe for you. I'm sorry if you missed it," Sam said, handing him the envelope.

Sam had sat on his bed, and Colby sat next to him, his bear in his lap and took the note.

He opened it carefully, and opened the folded peice of paper.

"To my sweet Cole,

I'm sorry I'm giving this bear to Sam, but I believe it is my only gift I would like to gift to you when I am gone. I love you so much, and I know you will do great things.
I want to give you some advice that takes a lifetime to know and accept.

The people that love you will never use you. They will love you unconditionally, and that is all I want for you in this life.

That Sam boy is a good friend, son. I know you two will be friends for a long time. Please, if you two are still friends by the time you read this, give him a hug and tell him how much I love him, and how much you love him as well.

But for you, son, I will always love you. And I bet right now I am reading this alongside you, and I believe I will be plenty proud of you.

And that name you chose, Colby, was it? It's a very lovely name.

Perhaps one day it will be the name many know.
But now, as I am writing this, you are just a boy. But I know you will do great things one day.

I love you very much,
Your mother forever,
Pat."

Colby folded the note with shaky hands, and began crying.

"I love you too, mom," He said, choked sobs escaping his mouth. Sam gently pulled Colby into a hug, and Colby held Sam desperately. Sam rubbed his friends back.

"Shh.. shh.. everything will be okay, I promise. I'm here.." He kept whispering, and rocking Colby back and fourth which eventually made him calm down and fall asleep. Sam laid him down on his bed and put the teddy bear in his hands. He took the envelope and put it onto his dresser, and then went downstairs to clean.
