"No, I have to say something. I know you said they were bad, then if they're bad then why not put them in their place?" Sam said, still standing.
Colby knew fighting was pointless, so he just joined him.
"Fine, but I'm going," Colby stood and Sam stomped up on the stand, asking the older man to politely move, as they had to make an announcement.
He understood, and stepped down politely.
"Shut the fuck up, all of you." Sam, holding onto Colby's hand tightly, controlling his temper, continued as the room quieted down.
"First, I just wanna mention that half of you weren't even at the fucking funeral, so fuck you. Of course you aren't in the will. Second of all, it's not even about fucking just getting shit, it's about getting stuff to remember the person by. Third, if this fully developed woman decided that you weren't in the will, boo fucking hoo. You're a bunch of assholes if you came here just to gamble to see if you got some money or some shit. You're all fucking assholes. Oh yeah, about me getting jewelry?" Sam only tightened his grip on Colby's hand, in which Colby squeezed back for comfort. "Fuck all of you. Being gay isn't a fucking bad thing, catch up with the fucking times you old Fuckers. Stop teaching your kids to hate themselves and other people. I got the jewelry because it's something that she wanted me to have. So if you came here just for the will, and not to care and love and respect another fucking family member, I want you to leave right fucking now, or keep your insults to your fucking selves for the rest of this ceremony." Sam said, his voice deeper than usual because of how utterly disgusted and pissed he was at the moment.
He saw some people walk out, but not all of them had the balls to. They walked back to their seats, and Sam finally let go of Colby's hand, and Colby rubbed it.
"Ouch, Sam," Colby laughed quietly.
"Sorry," Sam wispered back. They sat down and the man cleared his throat. He continued talking as if nothing happened, and explained the expenses, and everything that she put on there as extra, and somehow that ended in Sam getting 5,000, which made no sense in his head.
After they got out, Colby tried explaining to him how he got the 5k, but with his mind still being on the outburst, and the headache he had, he didn't get any of it still.
They swung by his mom's house and took all of the paintings carefully, and helped other get their stuff, and then they had to take apart the glass table and put it in their trunk. The jewelry and guitar they out in the backseat instead of the trunk.
They made it safely back to the house, and put the paintings up around the house, and set the glass table up in the livingroom. Sam took the guitar and jewelry into his room, putting them somewhere safe.
It took about 5 hours to do all of this, and Sam's headache had subsided, and the two were just relaxing on the couch.
They were sitting next to each other watching something, but Colby couldn't concentrate.
He kept focusing on Sam's head on his shoulder.
"Hey, uh.. Sam?" Colby looked down at him.
"Hm?" He hummed back, his eyes closed, Colby just realized.
"This may not be the best time to ask this, but.. Will you.. be my boyfriend?" Colby asked. Sam's head shot up.
"Really?" He asked, his puppy dog eyes showing that shit an arrow through Colby's heart.
Colby nodded, mumbling an embarrassed, 'mhm'.
Sam leapt into Colby's arms. "Yes! Yes! A million times yes!" Sam was smiling like a dork, showing his white teeth. His smile made Colby smile genuinely.
Sam looked up at Colby and Colby pulled him into a kiss, his index finger under Sam's chin. They closed their eyes and accepted the kiss, almost smiling into it happily. It wasn't needy or lusty, just a simple, loving kiss.
The two cuddled into each other, adrenaline pumping in their veins and nothing but happiness at the moment were in their minds. They let all of their sadness flow out of them and held onto each other's brace. Colby was so happy that he couldn't hold it in. He started playfully kissing Sam's face, making an exaggerated 'mwah' sound at the last one. Sam was giggling like a middle school preteen, and began returning the kisses in expended energy. He was really tired, but also really happy. Colby didn't really care if it was as hyper at his kisses, the fact that he was getting kisses was enough for him.
Sam stopped after a nose kiss, and hugged into Colby, slightly blushing.
He closed his eyes, but didn't go to sleep. He didn't think he could. Neither did Colby.
For the rest of that night that they stayed up, they told old stories that both of them remembered and for once didn't get absolutely hammered while doing it.
After, they stayed in each other's arms. No words, no gestures, just holding each other in pure bliss.
And they fell asleep like that.
