It's funny how life can change in the blink of an eye. I used to think that love was something I could never fully believe in again, after everything I'd been through in the past. But Adrian, with all his charm and sincerity, came into my life at a time when I least expected it. I had my doubts at first.
Was I ready for something serious again? Was I ready for another shot at love, especially when it came with the potential for more kids, a deeper commitment, and a blended family?
But now, as I stand here in Kassie's backyard surrounded by family and friends, I'm more certain than ever that Adrian is the one. I still can't quite believe it. He paused for a moment, and I could feel every eye on us. I felt like I was melting inside, but my heart was pounding so loud that I could barely hear what he was saying. The love in his eyes was undeniable.
"Who would have thought that the stranger in front of me that night would be the person I won't last a day without?" he continued, his eyes not leaving mine. "Today, I want to let you know that you are the person I want to be with for the rest of my life. In many different stages and versions, regardless of the change—good or bad—I want to experience it with you. Khloé Alexandra Kardashian, there can only be a yes answer to this question I'm about to pop. Will you marry me?"
And then, he opened a red box, revealing a stunning thirteen-carat pear-shaped diamond surrounded by two smaller diamonds on either side, set on a platinum band. My breath caught in my throat, and all I could do was stare at the ring. It was more beautiful than anything I could have ever imagined, and I couldn't believe it was for me.
"This is the best thing I've ever seen in my life," I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion as tears began to form in my eyes. "I'm gonna cry."
I could feel the tears welling up as Adrian stood up and cupped my face, wiping away a few stray tears with his thumb. The world felt like it was spinning, but I was anchored in that moment. I couldn't believe it. This was real. Adrian was here, asking me to be his forever.
"Yes, I'll marry you," I managed to say, my voice cracking with joy.
The second the words left my lips, a floodgate opened, and I was crying—happy, overwhelmed, pure joy. Adrian slid the ring onto my finger, and as he stood up, he kissed me softly. I kissed him back, over and over again, unable to stop.
"I love you so much," I said between kisses, my heart racing. "Baby, I love you!"
"I love you too," Adrian said softly, pulling me into a tight embrace. I could hear the cheers and claps from our friends and family behind us, but it all felt distant. In that moment, it was just me and him, finally stepping into the future together.
Then, Adrian turned to True and Tania, who had been waiting for this moment too. He handed each of them their marching rings, and I felt my heart swell. This wasn't just a proposal for me; it was for our entire family. It was a promise to them too.
"This is perfect," Kendall said, eyes brimming with happy tears. "Adrian outdid himself."
The tears were contagious. Kris was crying, saying how she never thought this day would come, but that Khloé was always meant to be a wife. Kourtney was holding back her own tears, and I could hear Kylie sobbing with Kassie.
"Did you know?" I whispered to Kassie, who had been standing beside me the whole time, smiling.
"Who did you think helped plan it?" she replied with a grin.
"Thank you so much, Kassie. This was perfect," I said, hugging her tightly.
"You deserve it, Khloé," Kassie said, her voice full of warmth.
And just like that, my world felt complete. Everything I had dreamed of, everything I had hoped for in a partner and in a future, was right here in front of me. Adrian was my future, and I couldn't wait to see where this journey would take us.
Looking at the ring on my finger, I realized that love doesn't come in a perfect package. It comes with all the mess, all the lessons, and all the growth. But when it's real, when it's this deep, everything else just falls away. I had found my person. And now, we were ready for whatever came next.
"Let's get married," I said, smiling through my tears. Adrian laughed softly, nodding. And in that moment, I knew: this was the start of forever.
