She remembered everything about those moments together.

The first month they were dating felt like the best days of her life. Even with the chaos around them, and their school full of trials and tribulations, Kiyotaka had always been there for Kei. He had seen her darkest moments, created a few of them too, but that didn't discount the fact that they were now in love.

Kei still vividly remembered the day where he asked her out. A bright day that ushered in new beginnings, the end of Spring Break. She thought that he had no interest in her and was oblivious to her emotions and feelings in every way. Although she knew that most likely wasn't true from her previous experiences, the words he spoke that day proved her wrong. He did care about her more than a superficial relationship with a tool. This idiot with no social awareness loved her.

They still couldn't be seen together in public, but she was preparing herself to tell the rest of the class, maybe after summer break. That was still a long way away so she had plenty of time to think about it, but she couldn't help thinking about it now. She loved him so much and wanted to make it clear that he was hers. He did seem to get a lot of attention from the girls at the school, so the sooner she made him off limits to the others, the better.

Tonight was just any other night, but Kei couldn't help that it felt special in some way. A one month anniversary shouldn't be significant, but she felt giddy and excited when she thought about how it had already been a month. He was probably unaware, either that or he didn't care about arbitrary numbers in months or even years. So, they ate dinner together intertwined through small conversations. This was a normal routine for them, something they had grown accustomed to in the past month. Although they were talking about meaningless things, Kei felt that they had meaning, a lot of it. They had meaning because he was the one who was saying them.

Later into the night, they sat close together and watched a movie, shoulders against one another. It wasn't a good movie by any means, but she didn't mind since Kiyotaka was there with her. She laid her head against his shoulder which was significantly higher than her own.

"I'm so happy," she whispered to him. He looked over towards her in silence and a small smile formed on his face, one that was a rare sight to see. They gazed into each other's eyes with mutual understanding, becoming lost in the depths of each other. Kei couldn't help how happy and excited she was feeling while being this close to him, her wonderful boyfriend, Kiyotaka. "I love you." That was the first time she had ever said that phrase to him. The sensation in her heart wouldn't stop rising with passion and affection.

"I love you too, Kei." She felt like she had been shot in the heart by cupid's arrow several times over. The way he said her name was different from anything else.

Blushing intensely, all she could do was bury her face in his chest and wait for his arms to wrap around her. He did so, embracing her warmly. She was so close to him that she could feel his heartbeat through the fabric of his shirt.

But then suddenly, Kei felt something really scratchy in her throat and felt the need to cough. This was the worst possible time to have a sore throat, why when she was the happiest she had ever been?

It began as a small cough that almost sounded fake, but as Kei felt the need to cough more she broke away from Kiyotaka and turned away from him so that she wouldn't infect him if she was sick.

"Are you alright?" he asked in regards to her sudden cough. She hadn't shown any signs of being sick before this moment, so it was reasonable for him to be concerned.

"I'm fi-" a cough broke her words. "I think I just need water, maybe my throat is dry." She said while trying her best to suppress the coughing fit.

She pushed herself up, but Kiyotaka beat her to the kitchen and got it for her, urging her to sit back down. Kei gratefully accepted the water and felt that it soothed her throat. "You should go back to your room. It's pretty late and if you're sick then you need to get some rest." She felt disappointed that their special moment had ended, but nodded her head in agreement. There was another small cough before she left, but she needed to keep the noise down so that she wouldn't be detected at the late hour.
