She walked the halls of Shiratoraizawa smiling, not at any particular person, but just because her life was right. On her way to Geography class people waved at her, said hello, or gave her a friendly nod which she gladly reciprocated to.

Her best friend who walked the opposite hall to the same place nodded and smiled quickly to people who passed by. Not all people were even friends of his, just people who he knew, and they knew him. The tall boy walked in change within himself and the way he lived at school. If you would have seen him two years ago, you wouldn't believe it was the same guy.

"You walkin' to Geo?" His other  best friend with lanky arms wrapped around his shoulder asked from the corner of his eye. Tendou Satori was a spectacle, definitely an "odd ball" and Ushijima didn't mind that at all. He saw him as a great volleyball player and kindhearted friend. Not a "freak" or a "monster" like people sought him out to be.

"Yeah I am." he replied optimistically

"The class with bestie number 2?!"

Yeah, best friends. That's what everyone knew and seemed to believe. Y/n and Ushijima were best friends, a power duo if you will. It wasn't anything new, they've been this way for almost two years and nobody seemed to question any different. Yeah some people had their suspicions and rumors which were quickly shut down by the two of them. "Nah he's like my brother" "Ushijima? Nah he's my best friend I couldn't do that"  "Y/n? No I don't like her like that"  But who knew despite everything they said that it really was completely and utterly different.

In the crossroads of direction the two saw each other and shared a look. Another day with putting on this facade.

The very back two seats were their seats, everybody knew that too.

"So, bestie, how's it goin?" the shorter girl asked from behind her curls in her face. Sarcastically smiling up at him.

Two can play it that game.

"Oh I don't know, bestie, I would say it's going pretty well." His voice was low, his words mocked her and ticked her off a bit.

"Well then bes-" "Excuse me. Miss L/n? Please stop talking."

Y/n threw a pillow at him while he layed on his bed scrolling through instagram.

"HEY! What was that for?" He knew full well what he was doing, but the back and forth, the teasing, he couldn't get enough of it. He couldn't get enough of her.

She climbed onto the bed hovering over top of him. Slowly, she reached for his phone and pulled it away from him "THAT was for almost getting me in trouble with Ms. T" He eyed her body as she had her knee in between his, in their school uniforms it felt wrong, that's why he enjoyed it so much. When he leaned in to kiss her, she pulled away.

"Nuh uh, you owe me."

Y/n got up and stood above the bed smiling down at him with a dozen things running through her mind. "I was trying to pay my dues but YOU denied entry." Ushijima sat upright in his bed and remained eye the eye contact he had been holding this whole time. His eyes couldn't help but to wander up and down her figure yet again.

"Entry?? You're such a dog Jima."

For her? Yeah, the man was whipped.

"Imma change real quick, I have my bag in here."

Y/n basically lived with him, her clothes were in his closet, her products were on his vanity, the study books on the night stand. He didn't mind though, it wasn't messy or anything, they lived cohesively.

Ushijima put his arm over his eyes when he caught her taking off her uniform to change into her tank top.

"So what do you want to do tonight?"

"Hmm I don't know," she started untying her tie, "and Jima, you don't have to cover your eyes, you've seen me naked before, it's fine." she said as she took off her shirt leaving nothing but her bra and skirt.

He uncovered his arm and saw her undressed as per usual. "I know that, but I'm just trying to be a gentlemen, that's all." Y/n smiled and lightly laughed a bit at his words. One of the things she loved about him is that he was never inconsiderate and he made her feel safe, comfortable, and he made her feel as if she were the most amazing girl to ever walk the Earth.

"Yeah well you weren't being such a gentlemen the other night when we-" "Okayyy that's enough of that."

He got up from the bed to change into his black tee and basic flannel pajama pants, as did she.

Laying on the bed, he flipped through tv shows and movies on netflix. She drew circles on his chest. Like many nights, they laid on the bed under the covers enjoying each other's company. Sometimes they watched movies, sometimes they finished a series. Other times, the best times, they would talk for hours on end. About each other, their lives, the people at school. It was their  time together. When in whisper, laughter, or tears, they lived it all.

"I wish we could stay like this for the rest of our lives Jima."

He looked at her face for a second, taking in all of her beauty before placing a light, firm kiss on her forehead, "And I wish every night could be like this one."
