we made our way to Buck Merrils house to find Dally. we didn't know what to do, how to react, where to go. so Johnny turned to the person who solved all his problems. Dallas.

the whole way there i felt sick to my stomach, not even a cigarette was able to cool my nerves. i was traumitized. i know Johnny didnt mean to kill him, he was just trying to scare them off. Pony would of been dead if Johnny didnt pull out the blade. they would of drowned him.

we approached the boxed like house. it appeard to be two stories. i had never been here before, i dont think Pony had been here before either. Johnny had told me about it before, apparently it was like a bar downstairs and the rest of the house was on the second level.

Johnny gave 5 hard knocks at the door before a man that couldnt be older then 25 answered. "what do you boys want," he said chewing agressivley. "w-w-w-we gotta see Dally," Johnnys voice was never more afraid. "hes busy," the man replied in an annoyed tone. "J-just tell him its PonyBoy, y/n and Johnny. he'll come," Johnny pleaded the man, "come one man."

the man shut the door, we ran to the nearest window, watching to make sure he was getting Dally. we watched Dall approach the door and we quickly went back. "what do you guys want," he was shirtless, and sounded as if he had just woken up.

"Johnny killed a soc," i heard PonyBoy cry out load. i turned to see him looking at Dallas with nothing but pure fear in his eyes. there was no spark in them like there was a few hours prior when we were walking round town. there was no emotion except for fear. i had never seen PonyBoy like this before. of course i had seen him cry hundreds of million times, but this was different. a part of my heart cracked as his voice projected the fear.

"What?," Dall turned to look at me to make sure it wasn't some sick prank. when he met my eyes he saw the emotion that laid within them. "alright good for you, lets go," he gestured us to come inside. he lead us through the cramped party and up the stairs.

i cornered myself on the bed, Pony sat next to me, taking his shirt off as Dallas got him a change of clothes. i curled myself into a ball, staring blankly onto the floor.

Dally handed Johnny a gun, PonyBoy wrapped himself up in a towel. each time i looked over at him another part of my heart cracked off. he was trembeling, and it wasnt just because he was cold. he was so so scared.

"here you go theres 50 bucks," Dallas handed the money over to Johnny, "look im not gonna tell your brother about this and get my head kicked in man," he said as he took a seat between me and Pony.

"then dont tell him," Pony responded almost mad. "here you go its Bucks, big on you but its dry," he chucked it to PonyBoy as he began again, "Get the 3:15 train to Windrixville, its a freight. theres an abandon church on the top of jay mountatin. theres a pump in the back so you dont have to worry about water," he lit his cigarette, "get a weeks supply of food as soon as you get there before the story gets out, then dont so much as stick your nose out the door am i clear?"

we silently agreed. "ill come over in bout a weeks town when i think everything's cooled down," he stated, "hey relax buddy calm down it'll work out," he gave PonyBoy a pat on the back. he too must of noticed the pure fear in his face. we were all scared, but Pony could of killed someone with the emotion that swiped his face. it almost killed me seeing him like that.

"ok you take care kids, y/n you wear this as-well," he said, handing me a thick jacket off the coat hanger as we exited the house.

we ran from the bushes to the open doors of a carrige on the 3:15 train, making sure to not get caught by the train inspectors. i rested my head on PonyBoys shoulder. he needed it. he needed to know that everything was going to be ok. at least i hoped.

we arrived at Windrixville early that same morning. its funny how just 7 hours we were walking around town, going to the ins, the lot. how life can change so much within that time.

we walked around for hours for a sign of life. we spotted a few construction workers and began fighting over who was going to ask where Jay mountatin is.

"well," Johnny waited. "well what," PonyBoy asked confused. "go on ask em," Johnny gave direction. "why dont you go ask em," PonyBoy asked trying to avoid doing it. "my ankles hurt i don wanna walk on em," Johnny made up a pathetic excuse. "what am i gonna say," Pony shrugged. "just act like a farm boy goin on a walk they'll never know," Johnny countinued to give direction.

"do i look like a farm boy to you," PonyBoy sassed out. "just ask em," i said, tired from the delay, "or i will." Pony exhaled signalling me to follow him. he put a peice of wheat in his mouth and tensley walked over.

"excuse me. can you tell me the way to Jay mountatin," he asked an old man munching on is sandwhich. "HUH?" the man yelled back. "HOW CAN I GET TO JAY MOUNTATIN?" Pony yelled so the man could hear. "FOLLOW THE ROAD UP TO THAT HILL. THATS IT," the man answered.

"THANKYOU," I yelled out as we began walking off. "TAKING A WALK?" the man called out. "Y-YEAH WHERE PLAYING ARMY I WAS SUPOSE TO REPORT BACK TO HEADQUATERS" Pony quickly spattered.

"creative," i laughed when we got far enough from the workers. "go on you come up with a better excuse," he challanged back. "oh i dont know, i wonder what could be better then saying were playing army." i rolled my eyes sarcastically.
