Thunder and Lightning

I walk through the woods to clear my head. When I hear cawing. It sounds like a raven. "The hell." I walk down a hill and see a raven trapped in wire. "Now how did that happen?" I crouch down to him and try to take the wire off. No use. "I hate where this is going." I pick it up gently. "Come on."

I lean on the desk as the vet tells me the diagnosis. "Well the good news is no broken bones. He was just a little dehydrated." I'm looking at the doctor but out the corner of my eye, I'm staring at David. "But I got him some fluid and he should be just fine." "Bad news?" I ask. "Well, this Raven is migratory. It's very rare. They tend to form strong monogamous bonds meaning..." "He doesn't get to his flock soon He'll be alone forever." I mutter to myself.  I hate how much I love animals. They remind me of myself.
"Well it's a long shot but the alternative he'll heal but he won't be happy here." "Thanks, Doc I got it." I pick up the cage.

"Kiara there's a storm coming. You really shouldn't go out there." "That's tomorrow and I love the rain. Besides hell be alone if I wait. No one deserves that." I state. "Then let me drive you." "I don't need your help. I got it." I say leaving. I drive my motorcycle down the road. I hear thunder in the distance.

I sit in a tree trying to grab an apple when a raven lands on my shoulder. "Hey, little guy. What you got there?" I say taking the note off his leg. He flies away. I unravel it.

Dearest Khione,

I've not heard from you since our meeting and can only assume you found the happiness you so desired. But I must let you know not a day goes by that I have not thought of you. In two days' time, I'm to be married. Come to me before then. Come to me and show me you feel the same way and we can be together forever. And if you don't I'll have my answer.

I smile softly. "Hey." I hear Lunar's voice. "What's that?" "Hope."

I stop my bike when I see a sign. I take the cage out the back. "Looks like we walk from here. If we hurry we'll beat the storm. Can't keep your friends waiting." I go under the chain and start my walk.

I hold a basket full of roses. I see the line of people with things for the betrothal. "Flowers for Prince James from the kingdom of Midas." he looks at them then at me. "Top of the northeast spire. Take the service stairwell or the guards will toss you over the walls." I enter the palace walls.

I ditch the flowers and hood when I get to the stairs. I walk to his room. When I hear a door open. I hide behind a pillar but notice I dropped the note. I bend down to grab it and take it. As the steps get closer I turn the pillar. I see him. I take one step and feel a hand over my mouth.

I'm thrown in the dungeon. He locks me in. "SON OF A BITCH! I am a royal emissary!" "Sure you are," He says holding up my note. He walks out.
I groan. I close my eyes and channel my magic. I hear whistling. "Do you mind shutting the hell up?" I turn my head and see a dwarf in the next cell. "What are you looking at sister?"  I roll my eyes. "Tried it all. Steel gets stronger as we grow weaker." "Well I'm not normal," I state. I inhale deeply and try again.

"Give it time. Grumpy." "I am not grumpy." I scoff. "No. My name. Grumpy."  I glance at him. "And I'm telling you there's no way out," Hr states. "Well, I'm Khione, and ill find one." "If you say so." I sit on the ground as it fails.

"I have someone waiting for me. Someone I love and I am not losing him." "love huh?" he asks. "Good luck with that." "the hell do you know?" I ask. "It's why I'm stuck in this hole." "Maybe you just have bad taste," I state. "I had it bad. She was beautiful as a fairy but I lost her. I was desperate to get her back. So I came up with a plan." He explains. I lean my head on the wall.

"I worked at the diamond mines. I traded all my wages to the foreman for a diamond to propose. But I got swindled. It was a stolen rock and I took the blame. I'm no thief but they think I am. Shoulda known better but I wasn't thinkin clearly. Now here I am trapped with no way out." he states. "I know a way out." A voice says. We look through the bars and see a guy. "Stealthy." "Hm." "You ready to go home? Doc whipped up a sleeping spell has knocked all the guards out cold." I chuckle.

"The rest are waiting with transport." "wait there more?" I ask leaning against the bars. "Who's that? She's pretty." "Thanks." I smile at him.
"No one. Come on let's go." He gets him out. I sigh heavily. "Have fun living a normal life while I rot for all eternity," I say sigh dramatically. I huff as I sit back on the ground with my back turned. I open my mouth '3...2...1" He unlocks my cell. I stand up and walk over to him. "Come on." I smile and follow him.

I hear cawing as I go up the hill. "Do you hear that? Your flock." I look down and see fallen trees on the path. I set the cage down. Thunder strikes the ground causing my foot to slip. I scream as I slide down the hill and grab onto a root of a cliff.

"NO! NO! NO!"
