Me and David are still on the DL keeping it casual and cool. I walk past him and notice a book he's reading. "You got it?" I ask. He looks at me and smiles. "Yeah. Yeah just started it. It's great. Can't wait to see how it ends." "You can go on your break and I'll cover you if you wanna talk-" Ruby says seeing us interact. "No!" "It's fine." We say immediately.

She smirks knowingly. "I'm just talkin to a friend." I say patting his shoulder. He chuckles. "Yeah." "Hey David." Emma greets as she walks over. "Hey." He greets. I go behind the counter. "So...how's your day?" Emma asks. "He's fine." I say making her cocoa. "That's not what I asked you." I give her a look. "You sure?" She asks. "Ya. The little shits stealing my cookies so everything's normal." I say bitterly.

"The bitch can't keep you away from him forever." I say as my eyes keep wandering over to David. "You two were brought together for a reason call it fate or coincidence but you're in his life now and she has to deal with it." I state. I walk to the back and come back out. I see him staring at me while reading. "Oh god. Ruby hes looking at me." "I know." She says winking.

"Gross. Don't do that. I don't even know why I told you." "Because we're best friends and you love me." She kisses my cheek getting her lipstick on it. "True." "So he's his normal self. he's fine he's happy?" Emma asks walking over to me. "No woman. He's like Batman and Bruce Wayne. Summer gets him from school he's all happy and lively and shit and as soon as he gets to grannies he turns into a depressed antisocial little rugrat. But my cookies still stand." I state.

"He misses you like crazy. Believe me I've known the kid for almost his entire life." I assure. "I practically raised him and Summer." I state. "Raised them? You take babies?" "Ash! I didn't even notice you!" I say seeing her and the baby. I take the baby and smile at her. "I would love to watch this Angel." I say cooing at the baby.

Granny takes her from to my disappointment. I sit at table across from David's booth with Emma and her. "How's it going?" Emma asks. "It's uh...it's uh..." I look back at David and smile softly.

"I mean baby's great. But we really haven't had any time to do the whole getting married thing. So that's been rough." "I can get ordained online we can do it in my backyard. I can get you one of them princess lookin dresses for you and babygirl, bribe Summer into bein a flower girl get Henry to be the ring barrier-" she cuts me off. "He hasn't proposed." "Oh...well offer still stands." I shrug as I lean back in the chair.

"Sean's been working double shifts at the cannery." "Well work is fundamental." I state. "On Valentine's Day? yeah." "Uh take it back. What the fuck?" I say shocked. "He could get out of it." I shake my head. "It's always the lonely bitches who be hatin on the people who have love in their life." They look at me.

"Bitches I ain't lonely. As long as I have god and hallmark specials I'll be the happiest bitch in the world." I smile with toothy grin. It's true. I don't really have a lot of experience with love but I still try. Like with David i know what's it's like to be betrayed by someone you love so I'm giving him time to tell her so she doesn't have to feel that way.

Ruby brings over menu's. "It doesn't have to." Ruby states. I look at her skeptical. "I thought you said we couldn't get in?" I ask. "Now we can. Let's have a girls night." Ruby suggests. "We can all go? Emma?" I ask. "But you have to leave the badge at home." "I'm not really in the party mood. But you guys can all go and have fun." She states.

"Finally! Something fun." I start standing up when Emma's phone goes off. "What's that?" I ask looking over her shoulder. "The station. Somethings up." She walks away. I smile at Ash and then look over at David seeing his expression drop.

We throw back a shot. "Pace yourself Ash. This stuff isn't for the weak." I chuckle. "I am. This is the first night since I've had the baby. I am making up for lost time." I smile at her. I look over by the bar seeing some guys checking us out. "One two three." I count. "Honey I'm still with Sean." "You're not married. And he's not here." "Not to mention its Valentines Day." I add.

"He's working." "He's always working." Ruby states. "Have fun moping." She says standing up and going to the bar.

"She's right. He's always working." She sighs heavily. "I thought love would be different." I think back to David. "You and me both," I say taking another shot.

I dance for a little bit and then get back over to the table. "Some girl's night huh?" I chuckle. "I thought it would make me feel better. But the truth is I need a 'be with my guy' tonight." she states.

"He's never around. And I'm at home with the baby all day. I mean what's the point in being together if we're not together?" she's right. "I know what you mean. Being in love with someone you can't be with...it's own hell." I press my lips together. I can't be with David like this. I've tried to push it down but it hurts."This was a bad idea. I should go home." she gets up.

"Ashley." we look and see Sean with flowers. "Hey. I thought that you were working tonight." "I am. It's my break. And I had to see you." I look at Ruby as she stands next to me.

She looks so happy. "And to ask you something." he gets down on one knee. My eyes wide and grin like a chesire cat. "Will you marry me?" he asks. She stands there shocked but obviously happy. "I only have a 20 minute break so any time now." we laugh. She nods her head. "Yes!" the whole bar applause. She looks back at us and we tell her to go. She deserved this.

I stand outside the club watching as Ashley and Sean drive off together. It keeps bringing me back to me and David. "How was girls' night?" I turn and see David. "David?" I walk over to him. "What are you doing here?" I ask. "I knew you'd be here. And I uh..." he pulls out a card. "And I wanted to give you your Valentine's Day card." I open it. "And check on me?" "Maybe a little," he states.

"I didn't want you finding someone else." "Like you?" I say reading the card and seeing Kayhryn's name on it. "Kathryn I woof you." I read. "No. So sorry." he apologizes.

He takes out the other one and hands it to me. "I meant this one." "You know I used to think that when people really loved each they'd do anything for one another. Slay a dragon, fight their demons, or some shit. But...if this is the only way you can be with me..." I shake my head. "You need to find another way." "Kiara-" "You should go home. See Kathryn. Your wife." I suggest.

"I know. You're right. It doesn't mean I'm gonna give up. I'll find a way." "the only way is telling her." I state. "It doesn't mean I'm gonna give up. I'll find that way." I nod slowly. "Okay." He shakes his head. I let out a scoff of a laugh. "Happy Valentines Day." I walk around him and head to my bike.

I get home and go upstairs. I peek into Summers room and see her on the game. "This guy is camping the exit. How am I supposed to get through?!" She yells. I smile softly and lean on the doorway. Well at least I know someone I love can be with me in public. I walk over to her computer chair and look over her shoulder. "Go! Go!" She jumps a little but starts running away. She gets to the exit but he set a trap and now she's gone. "SON OF A BITCH!" We say in unison.
