Orlai's POV
Diana had returned from the Kor Prison, escorted by the Kors to a holding cell.
I had witnessed it from afar as I had been walking around the Kor Hold itself, which is what this palace was called. Arcturus told me, and then I was left alone here while I used my senses in boredom to find a storage facility full of dresses.
Every kind you can imagine, in every colour of the spectrum.
They came with matching jewellery and crowns and it reminded me of playing dress up as your favourite zodiac.
I went through the assortment while alone and chose a purple dress, with a crown and amethyst jewels, along with special earrings, a huge purple rock for the necklace, among other accessories.
I looked in the mirror as I was now decked out in Arcturus' deep metallic purple.
The top part is separated from the waist by crisscrossing fabric.
It's very, very nice. I might not look like a warrior Empress, but I do feel like a princess of some kind.
And I was worried deep inside – so a little bit of dress up couldn't hurt.
After Diana was locked away and the Kors were quiet amongst one another, Alpha Centauri had averted his eye from her cell and found mine, seemingly by complete accident. He wasn't looking for me, but he is the first to see me in the far distance, peeping around a thick pillar in the darkness of the mega sized hall beyond.
I looked to his spear and saw the blood coating the weapon, and I figure Cinta is dead.
But the Estori keeps looking at me and I start to feel things.
I turn and swiftly walk down to a different area.
There was a blue room off the corridor that had metallic blue walls and a screen high above showing the last of Apastron. Scattered metallic clouds of destruction.
Danger had actually destroyed the planet of his father, and that made me very worried, but I also couldn't help but try not to roll my eyes at his extreme rescue attempt of his mother; aka me.
He didn't inherit that inclination to risk from me, that was from Alpha Centauri.
I wait for Arcturus in here, knowing he will come for me first.
He and I had an understanding.
Arcturus was exceptionally blunt in his Kor needs, and I was exceptionally... flexible... and giving.
I had no complaints and neither did Arcturus. We had a special chemistry. When we bonded we both reached maximum heat. He was like a sex god, and I was just receiving the gift of his attention.
But Alpha Centauri... well...
I had not confided in Diana my true feelings, I did not acquire the time to do so, but my thoughts were wired with worry for one concern above all the rest.
Jealousy.
Kors did not feel jealousy... not... really? Or they shouldn't. Especially with members of their own squad.
But when we had been dancing, and Arcturus and Alpha Centauri bit either side of my neck...
I felt I was mere moments from melting away forever.
Not from their desire to execute me. But an accident on their part.
I had believed it was from Arcturus and Alpha Centauri trying to somehow out-do one another, with both their fangs in me, their venom pulling me under and drowning me in both their possessive needs. But it was too much from both of them.
