Diana's POV

When I've proceeded to shed a few tears, feeling lonesome and kind of hopeless about Elion love... I finally decide to get to my feet.

But not before my senses tuned into the quiet from Ninth Squad in the adjoining chamber.

I look over my shoulder and my eyes light up because I expected to see them here as a surprise.

Instead, the chamber is empty and even Terra walked out. My small smile disappears. You know, humans needed contact too, sometimes they needed some extra attention and... Fuck it. I have to stop feeling sorry for myself. If no one wants to communicate with me, I'll fucking go somewhere I'm appreciated even if it does mean running away again.

I stand up and I bolt over the bed, wondering if I can hijack their spaceship.

In my spontaneous and powerful leap, using Fey strength, my nose suddenly detects their scent in the air, mingling with the Kor flora spread out in the room. The Kors were great at camouflaging into a part of nature itself, so I realise as I'm moving that they are right here.

Just playing with me?

My feet land softly on the stones and I stop looking like I'm sprinting out of here. If it's not already too late. I hold out my hands and hum awkwardly to myself as I focus on the exit.

"Hmmm..." after I've done nothing but look around, I straighten up and keep walking.

One step. Two... nothing. No one's bothering me.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven!

Eight.

Nine steps.

A few more.

Absolutely no one stops me, which means I'm tip toeing through the fucking air of an empty room and looking like an imbecile. Great! Now I'm delusional to top it all off.

However, just to be safe, I turn on my own invisibility and then hop for the exit.

At the door, I look out into the lounge area where the fire pit and curved stone couch is. Mars is the only one here and he is pacing the room slowly, looking in my general direction. Oh, no, where did everyone rush off to?

I drop my invisibility at once and my hand flies to my heart, "Mars?" I whisper, "Is something wrong –"

"Ritual," Mars smiles over my worry, and I immediately know there is no emergency, "...you have been running so much between rare moments of submission... that we've never conducted a real ritual with you."

I gulp, "...oh? Well why don't we try that n –"

"Don't deny you were running away again right now," Mars shows his dripping fangs with his displeasure, "The time to run is over, Empress."

I am used to asking for my wishes to come true, and I got cocky thinking fucking Alpha Centauri was duty enough for the day. Then fucking Mars. I was still kind of tired.

And, and, well, um –

"I was, feeling like running, running around, I have all this energy," I blurt out a lie and realise it's the worst lie ever.

"Energy abounding? Perfect," Neptune suddenly speaks behind me, over my head, a sweet melodic drawl.

I slowly look over my shoulder to see Neptune has dropped his stealth, no longer so shy. He's features are beyond a perfect beauty, with those silver liquid eyes that look like mirrors, but underneath that smile, is a row of venom dripping fangs just like the rest.
