An old man with a white fur coat was poking Edward's behind with a stick after his screams failed to wake him up. The man then hit him with the stick a little harder, which led him to wake up with a startle.
"Ahh? Huh? Wha- where the hell am I?" Edward mumbled under his breath as he took his head off from the cold icy ground. He looked up at the man who woke him up.
"Whaaaaa- what the hell are YOU! " he screamed.
The man's body looked like it was pure crystal with light reflecting off his body. His ice like body looked like it was cut very precisely by the hands of an expert. His hair was like ice too but somehow the blue hair seemed like it was blowing with the freezing air without any effort. The man reached out his hand to help him up.
"Get up, boy. This isn't the place for you to lie down and take a nap. "
His hand though seemed cold and rough but Edward felt smooth skin as he lifted him up.
"Thanks but... I was running then suddenly felt like everything was spinning and I burst apart and somehow came here... Where am I? Who are you? " Edward asked.
"I am Glacin, a humble man from our tribe, Ison. You must be the new iceweilder, " he said while pointing at Edward's forehead, "Did Akshen tell you anything about the gem and it's properties? "
"No, that wicked oldy separated me from my friends. Oh, I am Edward. Can you show me a way back to my friends? " he asked.
"I assume they are weilders like you? " Edward nodded. "Then they are where they are supposed to be like you. And I am afraid that you can't go anywhere until you do what you are meant to do here. " said Glacin.
"Like hell I can't. I don't want to stay here, " he replied while he reluctantly followed the man he just met with nothing else to do.
"Well, you have to find a way to connect with the dragon inside you, to be able to reach your potential. Until then, you are stuck here."
As Edward's feet were getting colder by the minute, he could still feel at ease in the harsh and cold environment. He could see big blocks of ice towering in the distance and was amazed when they reached the huge city. The towering blocks of ice were towers that surrounded the huge icy city. People like Glacin were going about their usual work. Majestic ice sculptures and amazing houses bore witness of the work of an artistic mind. The leaves of the frozen trees were like sparkling dewdrops. The inner section of the city looked more modern than the outer section of the city near the city walls.
"Woahhhhhhh.. This is amazing!!! The climate must be the reason they don't melt right? Asked Edward.
"Yeah, due to the fixed temperature, we are thriving. Come, let's go, " Glacin replied.
"Even though I am far away from home, this place still feels like home. Kinda warms me up from the inside, " Edward sighed with amazement.
They went into the inner part of the city and Edward got a room for himself in a big apartment type building. Every furniture was made out of ice but still felt cozy due to rugs and the colourful environment.
"Here, have this and rest. The juice is made from snowdew flowers, it will help you sleep. Tomorrow we need to work on your connection, " Glacin have him a tray filled with some fruits that looked like they were made from ice and a mug.
Even though the bed was hard, Edward drifted off to sleep very quickly after having his dinner. At dawn, weak ripples of light was entering through the window.
"I am telling you, it's still night, let me sleep more... " whined Edward as he was getting dragged by Glacin out of his bed.
"The sun is always like that, so stop throwing tantrums and go train. "
Reluctantly, Edward got up while rubbing his eyes. "What are these? " he asked.
"Clothes for you. Go and change. It will keep you warm."
Edward changed into the fur coat and tunic and followed Glacin down the stairs.
"It kinda smells like horse shit."
"Thats because it's made of horseal fur. They are like sheeps to us. Adorable furry creatures, " Glacin replied.
"You forgot the word 'weird', " said Edward. They left the city and continued towards a big cave that had frozen icicles hanging from the ceiling and chilly air breeze that could freeze anything. At the front of the cave, there was a girl standing who could be of the same age as Edward if she were human.
"Is everything okay inside? No icebats?" The girl nodded as a yes. "Meet my grandkid, Glaze, it's her first time seeing a human. "
The girl was shy and stole a gaze towards Edward before lowering her head. "Um.. H - hi, it's nice to meet yo- you. "
"Nice meeting you too, I am Edward Stanley. " Edward replied.
