' 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 '

Sanemi's POV

I had recently been on another mission, this time I was injured on my arms, I had two deep cuts and a gash across my chest.

I headed to the Butterfly estate, the blood not yet dried on my uniform.

"Oh my!~ Shinazugawa-kun, you're injured!" A voice called, it was Kocho, she'd usually treat me when I'm injured. She walked towards me with a worried expression as she led me to a room in the estate.

"What type of battle did you go through now, hm?" She asked as I sat down on the bed, she took a stool and placed it next to me, then sat down and began to treat my wounds. "Just demons attacking a village." I answered. "Hm~ You should be more careful next time, Shinazugawa-kun!~ If you continue being reckless like this, then it won't be long before you're covered in scars!~" She teased as she continued to heal the cuts. I remained silent while watching her treat me. 

"All done, don't forget to rest! You're not allowed to go on missions until you're fully healed!" She spoke, I stood up from the bed and so did she from the stool. "Thanks.." I muttered as I exited the room. She waved at me as I left, I waved back silently.

I then headed to a pond nearby to rest, I watched the fish swim and the leaves swaying. I found this place relaxing. I sat down by a tree and rested my back on it. I looked up to the sky and shut my eyes as a million thoughts ran across my mind.

Kanae's POV

I walked around during my free time only to find Shinazugawa laying by a tree, I looked over to him and approached him. I then placed my hands on my knees and bent down to look at him.

 "Shinazugawa?~" I called. He then opened his eyes and looked up at me. "Oh.. Kocho." I gave him a smile. "What are you doing here?" "Relaxing." He then focused his gaze to the pond nearby, which was full of fish and surrounded by flowers and plants. "Are you hungry? You do need to rest, and that includes eating properly!" "Not really." He answered. "Well, do you mind if I sit next to you there?" I gave him a happy smile as I asked this. "I don't mind." My smile grew a bit bigger hearing this, then I sat down next to him.

"So, how have your missions been so far?~" 

"They've been.. okay. They aren't that strong anyway."

"Hm~ But you still need to take care!~ That doesn't mean you can be reckless, Shinazugawa~ Besides, I wouldn't want to see you injured all the time!~" 

I looked at him with a polite smile after my words, he scoffed.

"Why'd you care?"

"Come on, Shinazugawa! I care for your well-being, and I'm pretty sure the other Hashira do too!"

I said with a slightly worried expression, though, really, I was worried for him.

Sanemi's POV

She cares for me? The other Hashira do, too?

I stayed sitting there, silent. I never really expected somebody to tell me they cared. Honestly, I thought no one would. I stared down at the grass. How could a person like her care for a person like me..?

This was unexpected.

Kanae's POV

"Shinazugawa, come on. I don't want you to keep hurting yourself, okay?"

"Okay." He replied nonchalantly.

"Look at me." I said, a genuine smile portrayed on my face.

He turned his head to face me, a calm, normal expression on his face. "From now own, you'll start taking care of yourself and less brash about things."

"This'll be our promise, okay?"
