"You doing anything this weekend?"

I stop reading my notes and arch a brow at Yoweon, "My schedule's clear for Saturday and Sunday now that literature research is finished. I'm not sure though, something might come up. Why?"

"Guess what?" Yoweon scoots her chair closer to me, which made a noise that caused the rest of the solitude library to look at the both of us and for me to sigh at my friend in disappointment because she did not seem to give a shit about this at all.

"I'd rather not."

"You know you should be part of a band too, a band named 'Killjoy'," She retorts with the same energy as mine, "Whoa hold up, did I just accidentally create a sick band name?"

"Get to the point."

Yoweon huffs because of my lack of reaction to her humor. Her dismayed expression is quickly replaced by a cheeky grin, "Kai and I landed our first gig."

My lips form into a smile as I completely abandon my notes and turn my whole body towards her, excitement building up within the both of us as we squeal together in unison, my squeals were ironically more dominant than hers, this doesn't happen very often.

"No way!" I smack her on the shoulder, "How? I mean no offense, you two are great musicians, you're an amazing singer, no doubt, how'd this happen?"

"It just did!"

My high spirits were immediately tampered over with skepticism, "It just did?"

"Some man came up to the two of us after one of our afternoon practice sets, he was a friend of Mr. Song and said he overheard us play, then offered us a gig this weekend to some place he owns, it's a resto-bar, I think. We're going to play a whopping three songs, Kira! This is it! This is gonna be our big break! I can feel it in my bones..." She looks down at her 'tingling' fingers with the usual glisten in her eyes and a wide smile.

Mr. Song's our music teacher and Yoweon's music 'coach' of some sort, he trains and accompanies them during 'Battle of the Bands' season. But a verbal claim was not enough to convince me even halfway that Yoweon and Kai knew what they were getting into.

"How sure are you that this isn't a sham?" I reply, doubtful and rightfully so. I just want to make sure that my friends aren't walking in on a slaughterhouse this weekend.

"A generous amount! Mr. Song vouched for his friend and said himself that we should go for it."

"And why is it just the two of you? What about the rest of the band?"

"It's usually just me and Kai in the music room, playing songs. We told the others 'bout it but none of them are 'free' apparently, most of them are just in the band for the experience, they aren't as passionate as Kai and I."

"Girl, I thought you didn't want to pursue music, what is this?"

"I never said that! I just said that I wasn't sure of what I wanted to do in my life after we graduate high school, there's college but I don't even know what I want my major to be."

"You sure you know what you're doing?" I ask again, just for good measure, "With this gig?"

"Super! I'll keep you posted and text you the deets this weekend."
