There is a lot to talk about the past and wars are certainly a part of it. Whether people liked it or not, wars have been taking part throughout history as if there were no end. There soon will be an end. An end where nobody is the winner because the very fabric of our Earth will be torn apart. However, there are ways for why a war starts. Here you will find many ancient wars.
The Napoleonic wars were a series of wars led by the famous Corsican general Napoleon Bonaparte. These wars started because of land. Napoleon wanted much more land for France (as he was emperor). He decided to march on all fronts. On the Prussians and the English. This was highly risky. All nations had extremely powerful armies. When napoleon failed to cross the English channel, another famous person later in the book will say "I will complete the task that Napoleon Bonaparte failed to do so many years ago."
Napoleon was imprisoned once he lost to the English and was sent into exile. He did escape and managed to start a much shorter set of Napoleonic wars but these were not as important. There are more reasons to why wars are declared. For example, before WWI there was an increasing tension between political systems of countries. These nations were all monarchies and were all related. The Russian Tsar (Czar), English King, and German (Prussian) Kaiser were all related by blood. The war started because the Austrians and the Serbians were having trouble cooperating. However, as tensions were about to loosen up, a young Serbian by the name of Gavrillo Princip shot an Austrian dignitary. This was known as "the shot that started WWI" This was not the truth. In fact everyone in Europe was ready for a fight. Austria declared war on Serbia and asked Germany for help. Germany declared war on Russia and that's how it started.
Wars don't have to be violent. The cold war was a great example. At that time, nuclear weapons had just been created. The Soviet Union and the United States of America stared threatening each other with missiles and bombs. This was a race to spread government. There were two powerful sorts of government at the time. Democracy and socialism (communism but less extreme). These governments were racing to see who was best. There was an increasing tension between the nations of these governments and neither believed that the other would dismantle nuclear weapons if one started to. In fact, it has been rumored that China currently has 3000 missiles ready to be launched that are stored underground.
There was however, something that all these nations and their leaders, had in common. This was not only to feed your own people, to quarrel with governments or simply just spread an influence. These nations wanted their version of an ideal world. A world which seemed perfect. One that they would like. The only reason they couldn't achieve their goal was because world domination was and still is impossible...or is it?
