Ch 3.
NOW
I couldnt even tell you what day it was if you asked. My days were all merging together. All I know was when I woke up Ezekiel was beside me, patting my head with a damp wash cloth. "You started to burn up during the night," he told me. He dipped the cloth into a basin beside him and turned back to my head again. "The Healer said you dont have much time left. Maybe 6 months...tops." he told me his eyes looking heavy with worry. "This isnt your fault," I told him, my voice hoarse. "I should know what to do, I made you, youre mine, I know everything there is to know!" he put the washcloth down and crawled into bed with me, pulling me into his arms. "I want to help you and I cant," he said. His body warmth was welcoming, but I wasnt sure if he was the one I wanted holding me. "Has Louis been by?' I asked. Ezekiel went rigid behind me, but he kept his hold soft. "He was by yesterday, as was he everyday this week. But we did as you asked and kept him away. He's looking adamantly I will say that," he said in my ear.
Just his tone of voice was enough to ease my pain slightly. I didnt know how I was going to survive 6 months of slowly dying. How did cancer patients do this? Then I realized that just like me they hadnt a choice.
"Has Stella said anything about Jonas?" I asked. "Jonas isnt welcome into the City anymore," Ezekiel snapped. "He did what he had to do to keep Stella safe is that such a bad thing?" I questioned. "Turning a human is one thing Azalee. But doing it without Alpha consent is treason. Hes not welcome here." he said his voice finalizing the conversation.
"Is Stella allowed to see me?' I asked. Even though I was a little mad and jealous that my best friend was turned into a werewolf and was living and breathing, I still loved her and wanted to see her. "She isnt and Im sorry, I know how much she means to you, but they split from our pack the moment she transitioned." he told me. "Doesnt the fact that they are looking for something...anything to cure me make a difference?" I asked. "It will if they find it, but in the meantime it does not," he assured me.
I relaxed into his hold and snuggled in. "This hurts me as much as it hurts you," he whispered as he ran his fingers through my hair. "I can feel every bone in your body aching, every skip in a beat that your heart makes and here I sit helpless," I could hear his voice starting to choke up.
"You can help me," I stated after a moment. "What is it that you need Aze?" he asked. I knew he wouldnt like the answer but my body knew what it wanted. "I need Louis." I said slowly.
THEN
I looked around as we walked into the back of the Underground and down the stairs. The walls were black, with glow in the dark paint thrown around here and there. "Isnt this awesome!" Stella squealed as she looked back at me. She was holding on to Jonas' hand and I frowned. "This is far from awesome, Im not having a very good feeling about this Stell," I said, but despite my bodies ill feelings I still followed her and Jonas.
I could feel the bass of the music before I heard it. It was vibrating my feet. Stella turned around once more and squealed again. I was never going to do this again. From here on out my life was going to be college admission essays and homecoming committee.
When Jonas opened the door, my breath left and I swear I could feel the beat of the music in my chest. Everyone was dancing around robotically it looked like, thanks to the strobe light that was flickering around. I couldnt believe there was so many people in the basement of a club! Jonas pulled Stella through the crowd and before I knew it I had lost her. I swallowed my panic. She had her phone on her if I needed anything I could just call her...or go back to my car and leave and she could go with Jonas. Served her right for ditching me. Pushing away my slight anger, I pushed my way through the crowd as well and then was sandwiched between two sweaty male bodies gyrating like there was no tomorrow.
