Ch 19

NOW

"Azalee!" I heard Kane yell from behind me. He was running after me. Ezekiel must had stayed behind to grovel at Kian's feet. "Azalee!" Kane said as he grabbed my arm to slow me down. I hissed at the pain his grip caused and he quickly moved his hand back. "Im sorry," he stated.

"What do you want?' I asked him. I was fuming mad and now a little sore. Werewolf grips were hard. "I wanted to apologize," he said looking down at the floor. "You were doing your job Kane, you got called home and you left, no big deal," I said mechanically. When he left I did feel a little broken inside. But Ezekiel had cleared that up. My hormones and emotions as an "almost" werewolf were sky high, I wanted my mate, who I wasnt sure even existed, I felt something for Ezekiel, even though, he felt something for another. I KNEW I loved Louis, but Kane...I wasnt sure about him.

"I never should have left you," he told me. "No you did what you had to do and you leaving narrowed down the playing field," I explained. "What are you talking about?" he questioned his forehead knitted in confusion. "You knew from the beginning that I loved Ezekiel because he was my maker, and that I loved Louis because...well no one knows the answer to that one still. But you....my body was calling out to someone familiar," I said softly.

"You wormed your way in, and then walked away. You took care of the problem of me wondering if you were meant to be with me when you walked away and right back into the arms of Kian," I said crossing my arms.

Kane's jaw clenched. "I had to leave Azalee, I was being recalled. I cant ignore that. I was on a job!" he exclaimed. "Was it part of your job to have me fall for you or was that just a perk?" I questioned. "Because im going to let you know, that having feelings for SO many people, can cause a lot of distress to an already weakened mind," I snapped and then I turned and walked away from him.

THEN

School was definitely not the same without Stella. Although, after a million and half apologies, Kane wormed his way into her spot. Knowing that he was there to guard me, explaining that without entering my transition I was volatile, my emotions were bouncing here and there and I had no control.

A few days after Stellas transition is when Kane proved himself. It was winter break and he was "told" to guard me even at my house. I had gotten home from a trip to the library and there he stood. Outside my door, dressed in black with his arms crossed in front of him. I sighed as I pulled into my driveway, my neighbors were going to think that I was part of the mafia.

I turned off my car and got out walking to the door. "Has Justin seem you?" I questioned as I walked past him to unlock my door. "Compulsion works wonders," he stated as he turned to follow me in the house. "What are you expecting me to do?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen. "Oh you know just explode...transition out of no where and kill everyone around you, that kind of thing," Kane said taking an apple off the counter and biting into it.

I didnt have a chance to reply because Justin came walking into the room. "Oh so you finally came home," he said as he walked to the fridge and pulled out a beer. I looked at Justin and then at Kane. "I see you have changed your choice of friends...I miss Stella," he said as he popped the top and took a chug. "This one is nice though, not nearly as annoying," he said pointing with his beer bottle to Kane. "What did you do to him?" I asked. "So I might have compelled an entire story in his head so sue me," Kane said rolling his eyes. "That is not my brother," I exclaimed as Justin walked out of the room.
