Hi everyone, decided to post a little early! I'll also be posting another chapter on Sunday so you'll be getting two chapters this week :) ALSO: This story will be going through changes. I'm going to be working on the cover and the title (I know I just changed them), but I'm just not 100% satisfied with it yet. Sorry for all the changes!

Alyssa slammed into Nikolai's side, hitting him with her full weight.

And unlike smaller dragons who had done the same to him, Alyssa actually managed to throw him off balance. His massive body twisted through the air for only a second, but it was just long enough for Alyssa to deliver another blow.

She latched her jaws around his back, using her own weight to weigh him down. His dragon roared out a battle cry, flipping himself over and biting into Alyssa's side. She felt his knife-like teeth cut through her flesh like butter, leaving her struggling to free herself.

She had successfully thrown Zircon off his blood-thirsty course set after Ashlena and Penelope.

But she had failed to free herself.

The Emerald Queen was now the main and only target of Zircon. She was directly in his line of fire.

And maybe he wasn't out to kill her. But he sure wanted to cause her pain.

The two largest and oldest dragons viciously tore at each other, both damaging each other significantly. Alyssa could feel the wind tearing into her ripped flesh, burning her skin like a bag of hot coals.

She was caught in a battle with Zircon, a battle that would decide her freedom yet again.

The moment was all too familiar.

His claws pierced into her body and hers into his, keeping them pulled in close to each other. They were eye to eye, roaring and screeching at each other. Alyssa once again bit into him, attempting to tear his throat out.

She missed, her jaws shutting around the air. She didn't get any of his flesh. Her mistake cost her a lot when Zircon bit into her throat, crushing her airways. She struggled against him as much as she could, but he held her there relentlessly.

The lack of oxygen, the agony from having her wind-pipe crushed paralyzed her mind and body. She didn't expect him to go so far. She didn't expect him to be delivering such lethal blows. She wondered if he was really going to kill her.

Two bodies of flesh were joined by wrath and the binding sutures of their past.

Lover against lover.

Enemy against enemy.

The lines that separated their relationship had become blurred and indecipherable. Neither could tell where they stood in regards to each other—Only that there was a single goal in that moment.

They wanted each other dead.

Zircon was only moments from achieving that goal.

But then out of nowhere, a large dragon latched itself on top of Zircon's back, biting into it.

Bone crunched like a lion biting through a zebra.

Alyssa was stunned to see the familiar silvery-blue reflective dragon.

Laken. Alyssa happily cried out in her mind, the sudden impact from Laken causing Zircon to release Alyssa.

Her frazzled head welcomed the rush of relief. As well as the sudden pulse of oxygen.

The oxygen rushed into Alyssa's strained lungs, leaving her momentarily dizzy. She didn't allow her dazed frame of mind to stop her from charging back into the fight, especially not as she watched Zircon tear at Laken.
