Peace encompassed those who stayed at the home of the Potter family. Nothing was amiss, everything was just perfect.

Euphemia and Fleamont Potter created a safe haven from the warm decor of their house and their own relaxed sense of personality. The pair cared so deeply for those around them, including their honorary second son, Sirius Black.

His mind and body had been presumably damaged beyond repair when they met him at eleven years old, James enthusiastically introducing his new friend to his parents at the beginning of the Christmas Holiday's.

Years flew by and he progressed into an avid hater of his own family and started occasionally showing up outside the Potter's with a broken nose or black eye. Yet despite the utter disgust he felt that his own parents would beat him in such a way, he wore a proud smile as Euphemia patched him up.

He was just picking away at his family's last nerves before he would finally walk out.

The pressure of steam created a noise in the tiled kitchen as a family moved through the steps of getting their dinner set up.

Barely managing to reach his sons height as they stood side by side, lower backs pressed into the worktop, James and Monty Potter both devoured chunks of bread as for their soup.

Their chomping noises earned a look of disappointment and disgust from Euphemia Potter who gave one last stir of the large pot sat atop the stove. "You eat like a pig and so does your son!"

As she stepped out of the kitchen and hurried upstairs to the toilet before dinner, the booming voice of Monty followed her, "He's your son too Mia honey!" with a laugh from both him and his son.

Watching with amusement as James' finger slipped past his own lips and out again in seconds, Gene Monroe stopped buttering the slices of bread and planting them on a plate for a moment to follow James' finger into his Father's ear. With a yelp followed by a grunt of disbelief, Monty nudged his sons beefy arm and escaped the kitchen just as the boy chased him out. "Daddy don't run away!" He cackled loudly as thumping footsteps made their way up the staircase.

Left in the quiet room just the two of them, Sirius and Gene only made eye contact for a moment before kissing one another softly. Sirius' lips still wore a light purple tinge to them but the bruising was a lot less painful.

"How do you think Mia will react?" Sirius said quietly as he heard the bathroom door swing back open. "She'll understand, it's Monty I'm more worried about, what if he cries?"
