Summer was the one time of year Gene Monroe would find himself in a constant state of happiness.
Before the world came crashing down on him, it was time with his family that caused this eagerness for school holidays to begin. After his Dad's passing, he and his Mum would rarely spend time together in attempts to avoid the pain Stevie Monroe's absence caused.
By the time things fell back into place, Gene found other ways to create an enjoyable time of year with friends and more recently, the addition of a baby brother and relationship between he and his boyfriend blooming.
If there was one thing that he loved most about summer, Gene would be inclined to gush about Sirius Black's gorgeousness in the sun.
And by god he was beautiful. Gene very much envied one part of his boyfriend's family, their genes. The Black family was beautiful, their sunken dark eyes bore into those who gazed back and skin so pale it resembled fresh sheets of paper. They all, to an extent, held such elegance it almost masked the gaunt personalities and ill intentions.
Except Sirius.
He held the beauty, there was no arguing against that fact. His personality however was a polar opposite to the one his parents aimed to beat into him. Had he not met James, Sirius would've became a carbon copy of his elder cousins and younger brother, Andromeda not included. In fact it was her escape from the family that caused Sirius to set his sights on a similar runaway that succeeded.
Watching the brunette run through grass topless shouting lyrics from any 'Queen' song that blared through a kitchen transistor radio effected by a charm to make it even louder. That's what Gene's summer consisted of. And he loved it.
As midway through reached, the beginning of summer was forgotten, or at least unspoken of.
Sirius' body had returned to a healthier looking state; his bruised skin less dark, eyes less swollen and more visible when others stared into the grey abyss of them, muscles building to a stronger look as he worked out in the early mornings.
All other injuries had been healed to an extent leaving mostly those light bruises littered up his chest and such. He was recovering from a broken rib for the first day of his stay with the Potter's, Mia giving him the best potions she could create leaving him able to walk around and such without pain. In fact, it was lying down that mainly caused his problems, due to him feeling unable to breathe mostly when he was feeling tired.
It was the most relieving thing for Gene to see, his boyfriend getting better. His mind never stopped working overtime that first week he stayed with Sirius in the home of the Potter family. They slept beside one another and just the smallest noise from his boyfriend sent the blonde into a frenzy.
