*Emily's POV*

It was the morning of Ali's trial. I, Spencer and Aria are rigged with guilt about how we didn't believe her, I know she isn't exactly the nicest person you can meet but we should have known that she wouldn't go as far as to kill someone, even if it was Mona.

If that wasn't bad enough, Hanna is behind bars for "helping Alison". When I final got out of my bed, my phone vibrated in its usual place - under my pillow. I didn't even want to look.

I picked up my phone up to see it was only Spencer, the text read:

"Em, are you sure you want to go today? Ali will understand if you're not ready and we can call you as soon as we get out".

A part of me wanted to just turn my phone off, hide under my quilt and not come out until the trial was over and done with but when Alison rung me the other night, I promised her that I would go. I can't break my promise to her, I replied to Spencer's text message:

"Yes. I have to. We all do. We need closure".

I threw my phone back onto my bed and headed over to my closet. I took down the hanger which had my outfit on for the trial, a white shirt and a brown skirt with my black heels. Once I'd put my outfit on, I say down at my desk and began my makeup. I looked in the mirror and said to myself:

"Emily, you can do this!".

I final left my chair and grabbed my purse and iPhone when my mother walked in. She looked at me with that same concerned look she always uses..

"Emily are you sure you really need to do this. Can't you stay home and away from all of the trial business. I worry about yo-"

I interrupted her, saying:

"Yes, I'm sure. I need to do this. It's the least I can do".

We both stood there awkwardly for a minute before my phone started to vibrate in my hand, I took a quick glimpse at the screen. It was Spencer.

"Mom, I have to take this. It's Spencer"

I said, taking my eyes away from her before turning around, so that my back was facing her and a slid my finger across the screen to answer the call. Before I could even speak, Spencer said to me:

"Em, where are you? We're outside. I've been calling you for the past ten minutes".

"I'm sorry Spence, I'm coming now"

"Mom, I have to go, the girls are already outside".

I walked out my room, carefully sliding past my mother. I quickly left the house and got into Spencer's car. The quicker this trial was over the better.
