The next day is unsurprisingly uneventful, and after last night it bums me out pretty bad. As usual, conversation is kept at a minimum and it's mostly Deidara talking my ear off, with the occasional Hidan monologue. It's only the early afternoon and the sun is still high in the sky. At a certain point, when Itachi lags slightly behind the group, I tug on the right sleeve of his cloak.

His pace doesn't change and the only sign I'm given that his attention is on me is the shift of his eyes to mine and then back forward. He nods, permitting me to speak. Even though I know the others are aware that Itachi is training me it still feels weird to ask for something like this in front of them. I lower my voice a bit. "Are we gonna train again tonight?"

"We trained last night did we not?"

I scoff, "Do we only get to train every 3 business days or something? How am I supposed to get better if you don't help me..." I can tell he thinks my tone is rude, "...sensei." I add to the end of the sentence to seem slightly nicer.

"I am allowing you to rest for today. We'll be arriving at our destination tomorrow afternoon and after completing our mission, we'll train again. You are more than welcome to train on your own."

I press my lips together in a tight line. While I agreed that of course I could train myself, the specific training we did yesterday was useless on my own. And furthermore, I didn't need a break before the mission tomorrow, because I completely intended to remain complacent in the completion of it.

As if Itachi reads the first part of my thoughts, "Your non dominant hand." He suggests.

"What about it?"

"It's too slow and it lags behind your other. I can always tell what you're going to do with it before you do. Work on that today."

My face goes blank. It was the one critique my dad always gave me and it also so happened to be the one critique I couldn't do better on to save my life. Luckily, Itachi and Kakashi were the only ones to ever comment on it and somehow I had managed to make it this far with it. But, still if I was going to kill Itachi, then that was a particularly disturbing comment.

I remain silent and so does he.

Right before the sun sets, we decide to stop walking and make camp on the outskirts of a small town. I notice we're in the Land of Grass, a small piece of land nestled somewhere between the land of Rain, Rock, and Fire. I had crossed by this village a handful of times and it was as quiet as a small town could get.

I couldn't imagine who would be sniffing out the Akatsuki in a place like this and why it was threat enough for the Akatsuki members and myself to have to go handle it. Nevertheless I set up the tree where I would be sleeping in and then look around for Itachi to let him know that I was going to be training on my own at a small clearing a few hundred yards away.

However, he is nowhere to be found. Unfortunately Deidara is the closest to me and so I walk up to him.

"Do you know where Itachi went?"

Deidara chuckles, "Lost your little sensei?"

"If you're gonna be a dick then forget it."

"You know, Y/N, you're a lot meaner than you look. And uptight too. I don't know if we'll get along-"

"-And what led to the impression that I wanted to get along with you?"

"Because why wouldn't you? I could kill you in your sleep and I just might, now that Itachi isn't here to protect his little student."

Silence follows for a few seconds before I speak,"Thank you."

His eyes widen and then he laughs, "Thank you?"
