Setting: The owl house, bathroom
••••Hunters POV:
"What?" I had managed to stagger out.
"Let me speak to him." Gus repeated his words in a calmer tone than his first demand.
"Gus, I have no idea what you're talking about."
I could hear Gus' annoyance without any words from the smaller. I sighed before gasping lightly at the feeling of being shoved past. I watched as Gus stood in front of the mirror, concentrated. I closed the door softly and go stand in front of the mirror.
Caleb is looking down at Gus with a smile. It was a happy smile. One that resembled a child seeing an ice cream truck on a hot and sunny afternoon.
I watched in silence as Gus pokes the mirror a few times. Gus suddenly turned to me.
"Explain it to me." He stated as I gave him a confused look.
"What? Explain what?" I gave a look of genuine confusion meanwhile Gus had a bored expression.
"How you're able to see him."
"But- what?" I was still terribly confused.
"Hunter, how are you able to see Caleb?"
I went silent. I stepped closer to the mirror and pointed at Caleb.
"This kid is real demanding hm?" Caleb commented with a snicker.
"Well...he's gotta be. They barely listen to him." I replied back quietly.
"What?" I looked up with widened eyes.
"Sorry, forgot you were here. He commented about your demands." Gus had a pinched look of hurt and regret.
"Oh yeah sorry. Gotta demand or everyone looks over me."
"Wow this kids sad. He's almost as sad as you are." Caleb said with some hurt in his tone.
I gave the ghost a scowl and Gus was still eyeing me expectantly. I look over to Gus and the look in his eyes just demands answers. I sighed in defeat.
"I forgot the old man's explanation but, it's something along the lines of flapjack and his death."
Gus look had faded into sorrowful regret. He chewed the inside of his mouth before speaking.
"I'm sorry."
My gaze softened. I looked over at Caleb who had distracted himself with observing his hands.
"It's...fine. I've gotten over it."
An overlapping mix of retaliation hit me.
"You haven't." From Gus.
"Pft, lies." From Caleb.
I stare at Gus. My words caught up in my throat before I swiftly turn to Caleb.
"Can he somehow see you?"
Caleb looked at me for a few moments. He stood up straighter and looked over at Gus then back to me.
"I have no idea kid. This is my first time," Caleb groaned with annoyance, "Just because I'm old as hell doesn't mean I have to give 'ghost vision' to my clones friends."
I bit my lip to hold back my words. I knew Gus knew plenty of curse words thanks to the human realm and the countless amount of curses but it still felt wrong.
"Ok so...any ideas then??" I had an annoyed tone as I glared at Caleb.
"A few." He stated without anymore explanation.
"Go on." I looked at Caleb expectantly.
Caleb hesitated a moment before he spoke, "Well, you can maybe, maybe allow me to posses you."
I groaned. I was getting real annoyed.
"What is your obsession with possessing me?? God you sound like my unc- Belos!"
Gus looked confused. He turned his gaze to the mirror and Caleb looked genuinely concerned about the death glare he was receiving from Gus. It looked like Gus was glaring right into Caleb's soul.
"Calm yourself and crazy kid over there!" Caleb stepped back.
"Wait- did you just-?"
Caleb looked confused. He looked down then back up. His face suddenly lit up. Hunter watched as Caleb got closer and closer before the old guy broke out into a sprint. In a leap of faith, he crashed into the mirror. I make an "eep" sound as I grabbed Gus by the arm and yanked him towards me.
The glass sharers and Gus looked confused and even startled. I look around searching for Caleb but he's gone.
"H-he's gone?" I stammer out without meaning to.
"Well tell me what the hell happened!" Gus shouted and he looked at the shattered mess of glass.
I looked at Gus and then to the mess of glass. My gaze returned to Gus as I let go of his arm and began to explain.
Third person:
Guses face remained neutral for the most part. A few times his face broke in a look of surprise only to be fixed back to his neutral look.
