it was a few days later and minho was at chan's house again, watching the kids. it was so cute, they were so inseparable together.

one thing that concerned him, was when chan told him that jeongin started baking. the young boy really wanted to bake, but minho said he didn't have enough of the ingredients in their apartment.

truth be told, they did. minho just really didn't want to bake. minho was dozing off in chan's bed as the kids, apparently weren't, sleeping in their room.

he heard a loud cry, and a clattering, along with a blood curdling scream. "minho!" the door to chan's room opened and hyunjin had tears uncontrollably flowing down his cheeks.

"innie's hurt! help him!"

minho quickly got out of bed, following hyunjin to where jeongin was on the ground, holding his hand close to his face along with the oven open and a pan on the floor.

"innie, baby, come here. let me see."

jeongin didn't want to be yelled at for baking when he wasn't allowed to, but he was watching videos on cakes and he was hungry.

minho turned off the oven and crouched next to the crying boy. hyunjin sniffed, glancing at minho's phone which had a call from chan displayed.

he answered the phone and chan was instantly alarmed. "jinnie? why are you crying, darling?"
minho froze as he heard chan's voice and felix sobbed harder at the thought of being in trouble.

"i-innieg-got hurt a-and minho's helping h-him." he rubbed his teary eyes and heard a sigh. "can you give minho the phone?"

hyunjin nodded, handing the phone to minho who held jeongin close to him, the boy's cheek resting on the elder's shoulder with his arms tight around minho's upper body.

minho rubbed his back, pursing his lips. "hi, chan."

"hi, min. is everything okay? do i need to come home?"

jeongin glanced up at him with a quivering lip as he shook his head desperately. minho was weak for the cuddly boy, smiling softly as he rubbed his back.

"we wanted to bake, but innie hurt his hand. i'm going to keep some ice on it, and it will be fine by tomorrow. just a small burn."

there was background chattering on chan's side and he sighed. "i have to get back to work, i should be home in about 20, stay safe, bye."

he hung up and minho put his phone back onto the countertop, eyeing the red skin around jeongin burn.

"innie, why did you try to bake? you could've waited till tomorrow."

jeongin rubbed his nose into minho's shoulder. "'m sorry, minnie. i just wanted to make a cake for when dad comes home."

"it's okay, baby. you could've come and gotten me."

"you were sleeping. i didn't want to bother you."

minho and chan were sat side by side on the couch, watching a movie as the kids slept in their rooms.

"i'm sorry, chan." grasping the older's attention, he continued. "if i was more careful, innie wouldn't have gotten hurt."

"minho, it's fine. he's okay, yeah? you couldn't have done anything different."

minho kept his gaze on his lap, when fingertips grazed his jaw and angled his face towards the older.

"everything's fine, min. not everything will go right all the time, and that's okay. it's okay to mess up, min."

the younger nodded, glancing down at chan's lips. then the gap closed. their lips slotted together and minho hummed contently.

he brought his hands up to interlock at chan's nape as the older slowly sat up on one knee to push minho back against the couch.

as minho pulled back, chan chased his lips for the second time. once they were locked again, chan's fingers slid under minho's sweater, resting on the bare skin.

his cold hands against minho's warm skin was comforting. they kept it soft, not needing to deepen it, or intensify the kiss.

as chan pulled off, minho kept his eyes closed, clutching the back of chan's sweater. "min?"
minho hummed quietly, opening his eyes to glance up at chan.

"you okay?"

he nodded and chan laughed at him, flopping down on top of minho to pull him into a hug.

after a few minutes of minho playing chan's hair, he gulped. "chan?" the older rested his chin minho's chest as he smiled.

"what are we?"
