*SHINK*

The sound of metal slidding against itself was loud in my ear, vibrating my ear drums but making my attention all the more focused.

Amalia stood in front of me, a sweat rolling down the side of her face as she backed away, her spear held out in front of her in an attempt to block any of my attacks. I narrowed my eyes at her, readjusting my grip on my sword.

None of our swords felt right, they usually felt to heavy or lopsided. Hippolyta said one day I'd find a weapon for me but I'd have to earn it. I could only hope that day would come soon.

Amalia seemed to notice my thinking as she brought back her spear and attempt to shank me, luckily I'm fast on my feet as I dodged, curving my body like an arch before spinning on my heel and kicking the weapon as hard as could, the metal flying off to the side of the pavilion we were using to practice. Amalia looked shocked but took this opportunity to get in close, I slashed, her arm going up to block my attack and only barely making it to her metal bracelet.

I furrowed my eye brows as I brought back my weapon, a swift punch reaching my chin. While Amalia had the height advantage on me I liked to believe that I held the advantage of speed. I stumbled back, grabbing my jaw for a second to make sure I wasn't harmed too badly aside from the stinging before I went back in.

I slashed again, my sword hitting her other bracelet once more, but before Amalia could level a punch at me I leaned my body back, bring my foot up before kicking my foot as hard as I could into her gut. Her eyes only widened momentarily before she was tossed back, skidding to a stop at the other side of the arena.

I could see Diana in the corner of my vision beside Hippolyta, the two watching our battle. This is supposed to be the battle that proves that I'm ready. I can be a part of the others, I can help them take down our enemies that are in man's world. I rushed forward and in the blink of an eye I had my foot on Amalia's stomach, a pained look on her face as she looked up at me.

I pointed my sword at her throat.

"Perc-" Diana started but was cut off as I felt my body jolt sideways. Amalia had grabbed my foot and twisted. I feel to the side, my sword clattering off somewhere. I didn't allow myself time to recover against the hot marble flooring. I quickly pushed myself up, watching as Amalia got up across from me, her body looking a bit worse for wear. I could beat her, I knew I could.

I put my hands up in front of me as she approached, letting out a war cry and running towards me. I side stepped her, but she was quick to pull up her leg and spin. I grabbed the back of her leg quickly, turning my weight before pulling. The next thing I knew Amalia was in the air above me before I pulled her back to the ground and she hit the marble with a thud. She let out a small gasp before laying her head back and shutting her eyes. She wasn't out, just resting.

I heard clapping from beside me to see Hippolyta, her face in the usual elegant calm expression, and beside her Diana gave me a smile. I gave her a subtle smile back before turning to Amalia, extending my hand out.

"Thank you for sparing with me." I said. Amalia raised her hand motioning for me to wait.

"That last move was rough Percy, give me a second." I nodded, waiting a few seconds before she gave me her hand and stood back up. She gave me a smile before picking up her weapon and heading for the armory.

"Congratulations young one." Hippolyta said with a small smile. I nodded, returning the smile before remembering my etiquette and bowing.

"Thank you your majesty." I said quickly. I lifted myself back up as I awaited the words I'd wanted to hear for so long.
