I finally awoke from my slumber, opening my eyes and lifting myself upright. I was met with a pair of pretty blue eyes. “Riku! She’s awake!” Another person runs up.He has turquoise eyes and silver hair. “Yeah. I can see, Sora.” I glanced at the two boys and then down at myself. I was no longer wearing the blue gown I have always worn at the hospital. Now, I was dressed in a black crop top that had a small red heart in the corner. My pants consist of dark blue ripped jeans, and I had black converse. “How did I get here? Where am I?” I asked, making the two stop bickering in front of me. “Oh. You’re on destiny islands. Sora saw you fall down and land on the sand. For a second, we thought you were dead.” The boy known as Riku spoke up. “I was at a hospital. I’m very sick..” The boy named Sora turned to Riku. “We have to help her, Riku. We just have to!” Riku looked around, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Fine.” He held out his hand, and I took it hesitantly. Riku grabbed me and picked me up. We all started moving, and soon, we were at a hospital. “Here. They’ll treat you here.” Riku gently placed me down on the ground, and I walked up to the desk.
Twenty minutes later, I was sent out. But.. The doctor said I was sick. That I had Schizophrenia.. Was she wrong? I saw Sora standing by the entrance of the hospital. “Oh. You’re back so soon? What did the doctor say?” I frowned. “My doctor back at home said I was sick, but this doctor said I was fine. What’s going on?” Sora frowned. “Hey, it’s okay! We will figure it out. In the meantime, what’s your name?” I smiled slightly. “Zara.” Sora smiled back. “What a pretty name. Come on, Zara, We should go ask Riku if we can all play racing!” Sora grabbed my hand and ran with me. We ran toward a small hut on the beach, where Riku and another girl stood. “Sora. You’re as optimistic as ever. What is it?” The girl asked, putting a hand on her hip. “We made a friend! Zara.” He presented me, placing his hand on my shoulder and beaming an even bigger smile. “Did the doctor say she was fine?” Riku chimed in. “Yeah. I'm not sure why. She said that her old doctor said she had schizamajig or whatever it was called.” I giggled slightly. “Schizophrenia.” Riku raised an eyebrow. “But the doctor said I was healthy, that I didn’t have it anymore.”
Riku nodded. “Want to help us build our raft?” I looked to the side, and there in all its glory was a boat that was wide enough for 5 people. “Sure. I like building. I used to build little things in arts and crafts.” The 4 of us walked over to the boat, gabbing our hammers and getting to work. “So, why are we building this?” Sora nudged me playfully. “We’re leaving the islands to find new worlds!” Sora smiled widely. “Worlds?” Riku nods. “We want a new future.” A new future? What does he mean? “We’ve lived on this island for all our lives. We want a new adventure!” Sora chimed in. The girl nodded her head, agreeing with Sora. “Say, I never did catch your name.” I asked the girl in the pink. “Kairi!” She smiled, hammering in a nail. “Nice to meet you.” She shook my hand, and we continued to build, even adding a compartment for food. Riku helped me tie a rope around a post, and Sora helped me design something for the raft.
After a few hours, we finished today’s work. We high-five each other, and Sora hugs me. I see Kairi narrow her eyes in the corner. “You are really good.” Riku commented, prying Sora off of my waist. “So Zara. How old are you?” Kairi asked, biting into a fruit. “Uh about 25, why?” They all blink. “And you?” Sora snickers. “We’re both 14. Riku is 15.” I nod. “How interesting. So, how do you guys have fun?” Sora grabbed a rope that was tied to a weirdly shaped palm tree and climbed it, swinging into the ocean. His original red and blue outfit was replaced by blue swim trunks and had a crown shaped pendant around his neck. Riku’s blue pants and white shirt were replaced by black swim trunks. He climbs the rope and swings, landing right next to Sora. “Haha! Hold on, I’ll go get us some bathing suits.” Kairi runs into a hut, running out quickly. She grabs me by the hand and pulls me into the hut. The two of us quickly chose our bathing suits. Hers was pink, and it was really frilly. Mine was black and blue and had flowery designs.
Kairi and I made our way out, Sora and Riku were splashing each other, Sora swimming away from Riku while laughing. Riku was making a funny face and swimming after Sora. Kairi swung from the rope, landing next to Riku. I grabbed the rope, climbed it, swung from it, and landed next to Kairi. I began doing a few warm-ups so i don’t sprain any muscles. “What are you doing? Some water stretches?” Sora asked, swimming over to me.”I did a lot of swimming in the hospital. On our free days, Merida took us to the lake. She told us that stretching would help our muscles get used to the movements” Riku swam over, then Kairi. “Merida?” Riku asks. “My nurse. She looks like Merida from the movie ‘Brave’ So I wanted to call her that.” Sora smiles. “So Zara. Are you coming with us? When we leave the islands?” I blinked. “Well I sure as heck don’t want to be alone again. Of course I’ll come with you guys. I could look after you, maybe learn how to fight.” I did a punch motion with my hand, punching the water. Riku smiled. “Maybe I can teach you to wield a sword. You’d probably be better than Sora.” Sora looked over at Riku, offended. “I’m really good, thank you very much!” He puffed his cheeks and stuck out his tongue. We all had a laugh before Kairi slid out of the water. “It’s getting really late. We need to go to bed so we can all be up in the morning to finish the raft.” The rest of us got out of the water. “Hey, Zara.” Sora grabbed my arm, stopping me from walking towards the others. “Don’t you think Riku has been a little off lately? More eager to leave?” Sora asked me. “Well considering how I only just met you guys today, I’ll take your word for it.” I looked down at Sora, who was looking at Riku. “Would you like to crash at my place? My mom won’t mind since you're more around her age, haha.” Sora joked before walking down a pathway.
