"Can't believe I'm doing this..." [Name] grumbled as he shoved his hands into his pockets. He was currently walking beside Rin as the younger teen lead them towards the location of the Japan Football Union. "Are you sure we're going in the right direction?"
"Are you doubting my sense of direction?" Rin asked with a raised eyebrow, an annoyed look on his face as he looked up from the GPS he was following on his phone.
A blank look appeared on [Name]'s face as he glanced at the suspicious building before noticing the sign that said 'Japan Football Union.' "Nope, never doubted you for a second." He spoke sarcastically as he went on.
Rin seemed to click his tongue at this as he quickly stomped over with a roll of his eyes. They quickly walked over to the door before opening it and walking in. The sight that greeted them was none other than hundreds of other players inside with them recognizing a few people.
"Woah..." [Name] mumbled as he walked past the door, a few stares following his figure while Rin glared at everyone from behind his back as if silently telling them to fuck off and mind their own business.
"Don't tell me..." Rin started as he recognized a few faces known to be promising forwards along with the aces from different teams they've gone against before. 'Are they all forwards too?'
"Tch, test, one, two." With those thoughts, the lights suddenly shut off as a loud voice echoed within the large room. "Congratulations, you unpolished gems."
All eyes turned over to the front as a large spotlight shone brightly on a figure at the mini stage at the other end of the room [Name] and Rin were standing in. "All you under-18 strikers have been chosen solely based on my criteria and biases here today. All 300 of you."
A large silence wafted over the group of teens at the large number while [Name] merely settled with narrowing his eyes.
"I am Jinpachi Ego. My job is to make Japan a team capable of winning the world cup." Loud murmurs started at that declaration.
"How lukewarm," Rin mumbled causing [Name] to sweatdrop and look at him. Despite hearing that term for years now with how long he's known the Itoshi brothers, it still baffles him whenever he hears it being used as an adjective.
"Of course you think that." The shorter teen mumbled with an amused snort before he turns back towards Ego. 'I bet he'd think that too...'
"I'll put it in simple terms. Japan only requires one thing to become the strongest powerhouse in football." Ego then raises his hands dramatically as the white spotlight bleeds into a dark red. "And that is the creation of a revolutionary striker. From you 300 players gathered here today, I will forge the best striker in the world through a certain project."
"Look here. For this purpose, we have built this facility..."
A giant holographic symbol appeared behind Ego as he took a step to the side.
"Blue Lock."
The hologram almost felt realistic as it twisted and turned like a 3D model of the facility. A small hum seemed to leave [Name]'s leaves as he looked at the futuristic presentation in amazement.
"Starting today, all of you will live in this building, and follow, down to the letter, my personally-designed training regime. You will not be able to go back home, and as of now, can consider your football careers as you know them, over."
[Name] merely shrugged at this, a huge contrast to the nervous looks most of the other players sported. It wasn't like he cared much about football. Honestly, this would just give him the perfect reason to stop playing.
