"WHERE IS MY SON?"

Son? I stand stunned and speechless, almost forgetting about the two people beside me. Jake looks bewildered, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets, while Gavin seems even worse, on the verge of fainting. It's clear he's never seen anything like this. Just wait until he sees Winter...

To be fair, I'm just as shocked. Did this man really claim Winter as his son? Wait-what if he's lying?

"Mi Vir, stop scaring the children and get down from there!"

Our heads snap toward the source of the voice, and sure enough, the shorter male with porcelain skin-who I must admit is extremely attractive-glides down from the rooftop of a nearby building. I suspect he's been watching from afar, waiting for his "partner" to corner us. His wings are a greyish-white, adorned with many smaller feathers that shimmer with golden reflections, making them look even lighter.

The moment his feet touch the asphalt, the wings behind him vanish, leaving behind a trail of sparkling silver glitters that make his appearance even more ethereal than when he had wings. The taller man follows suit, stepping down from the car's hood with a scowl. Yet, just as when I first encountered them, he trails behind the smaller male without question. His loyalty is unwavering.

"So, it's you."

I blink, and only then do my companions seem to snap out of the daze as if the spell that had held us is finally broken. Or maybe, they still think this is just a dream.

"Yes, it's me?" My voice wavers, filled with as much doubt as what my eyes are seeing.

"Get out," the pretty guy commands, his tone cold and unwelcoming.

For some reason, I can feel that he doesn't like me. I nudge Jake with my elbow and give Gavin a light smack on the back of his head. He wants to protest, but no words escape his throat, probably still in shock from what he just witnessed.

Reluctantly, the three of us climb out of the vehicle and stand in front of the couple, like kids about to be scolded. I remain silent, though, unlike Gavin, I could speak if I wanted to-I just don't.

Less talk, fewer mistakes.

"Where is Winter?"

I catch Jake glancing at me from the corner of my eye, likely questioning how these two people know Winter. They keep calling him "son." Son? How can two young adults claim a full-grown man as their son? It doesn't make sense. And they're both males. Sure, there are ways for same-sex couples to have a child, but there's just no way Winter is their long-lost son.

"I think this is a case of mistaken identity," I suggest, trying to be reasonable. Jake's stare immediately tells everyone how ridiculous I sound. Even Gavin, who hasn't met Winter yet, knows I'm spouting nonsense.

The pretty but shorter guy lifts his chin with a confidence that's hard to argue with, and for good reason. He's absolutely gorgeous and does bear a striking resemblance to Winter. His height, though, is almost endearing.

I find myself looking down into his defiant eyes, which are filled with a hardened, solemn expression. They're the same color as Winter's eyes. Don't tell me these two are actually his parents?!

"You're lying," he accuses.

I smirk. "You're good."

"Do you treat everything as a joke? Do you have any idea what we went through, scouring the city for a sign of him?"

"I'm sorry to hear that, but I can't just trust anyone who shows up out of nowhere and claims to be his parents!"

"Ha! So you do know my son after all!" His eyes widen in realization before narrowing sharply at me, and I feel every hair on my body stand on end. "What a pathetic excuse for a human being you are," he snarls through gritted teeth. "Ah, I have no time for this!"
