"That's something, huh?"
I smile and agree that it's really something...
I never thought I could play in a band again. Never thought I could hold a guitar again. Most importantly, I never think that the person I deem important in my life right now gets to listen to me perform on the stage.
After what seems to be an hour of rest, I tell Carlos to take Winter and his parents back to the penthouse for their safety. I promise to come home early once I finish the shift for tonight.
Gavin insists on walking with me to work as we talk. We talk about a lot of things, mostly those times we spend playing in a band, and how we cut classes.
"Do you still remember when we sneaked out that night you were grounded?" Gavin's hands are inside the pocket of his fur coat as we take the time to trek the busy alleyway filled with many different types of people.
I smile as I recall. "How can I forget? I came back home with one black eye and told my mom that I slipped in the bathroom."
I hear him chuckle. "You never change."
I smirk and light up another cigar, puffing out a smoke before replying, "You think? People change, Gav. No one stays the same."
As we reach the front gate of my workplace, I put out the cigar and step on it to extinguish the ember. The night is young and the weather is much colder, but I'm wearing the jacket that Winter gave me earlier, and it provides my body with some comfort and warmth. Although I'm not certain if it has anything to do with the person who gave it to me.
"Blythe," Gavin speaks and I stop, my brow slanted, asking him to spill. He is reluctant at first but not for long. I think he might be thinking about the words before he even lets them go. "Let's do it again. This time, let's do it your way."
I snort. "Have you ever learned?"
But he only smiles back at me, his eyes full of conviction. "I think I understand why you turned your back on our dream," he says. "Because I'm so scared of the future that I've forgotten how to take a risk."
I look at him. Long and hard. "And if I betray you again?"
"Then, you truly are an asshole."
"Suit yourself," I grin at him. "But I've warned you."
Gavin's face brightens, and I think this is the first time I see him happy since we've seen each other. "I know, bro. I know."

The long hours of work wear me out, but that isn't why I think I've grown impatient and dissatisfied with something or having too much. It isn't that I'm discouraged, and Gavin's offer has always been on my mind since I hold that guitar and pluck the strings.
However, I've already vowed that I'm not going back to the life I once had.
"Blythe," Winter's face appears before me as usual. This is one of the few things that brings me delight when I come home. I think that no matter what home I enter, as long as he's there, I'd feel more than welcome.
Both Hariel and Ramiel are watching the television, and I giggle inwardly when I hear Ramiel talking more about the commercials rather than the show. Hariel is wiser and more accepting of human flaws despite his distrust of me. Then again, it might be the reason why he doesn't trust me. He understands that the programs shown on television are meant to influence and attract viewers for money. And despite his bossiness, he lets Ramiel share this happiness with him. Like I've said before, their relationship is something to be envious of.
