Kara was very grateful that she'd scheduled a meeting with Lena today, since she needed to be sure that Alex didn't make Lena never want to talk to her again and also, they needed to finish their conversation anyways, since Kara had been putting off until now. She was even more glad about it when her super hearing detected both the signal from Alex's watch and also and probably more important, the sound of windows shattering coming from Lena's office and also the sound of gunshots and Kara was pretty sure that it wasn't Alex shooting Lena, since for one thing, Alex wouldn't do that just to prove a point and more importantly, she wouldn't signal her just for that.
So Kara then proceeded to lower her glasses to use her supervision, hoping that Lena hadn't lined her office with lead yet and luckily she hadn't. Especially since it allowed Kara to see Metallo standing over Alex and Lena with Alex trying to shoot Corben, but it wasn't working. Not that Kara expected it to. This was a job for her. She just hoped that Lena had a Kryptonite suit ready for her, otherwise while she could at least lure Metallo away, she wouldn't stand a huge chance.
Anyways, Kara slid her legion ring on and made her way out of the L-Corp building and found an empty alley for her to let down her hair and remove her glasses and sure enough, her suit materialized over her clothes and as soon as it had, Kara took to the skies as Supergirl made her grand debut to National City with a bit more grace in this reality.
"Ms. Luthor, your brother sends his condolences on your passing. But he won't allow anyone but himself to have control over Luthor-Corp." Metallo said.
"It's not Luthor Corp anymore, it's L-Corp." Lena said, wondering where the hell Kara was and as if she'd been reading her mind, Metallo was blasted back by twin blue energy beams as Supergirl flew into the window.
"What took you so long?" Alex asked.
"You know how traffic is, though I can feel the effects of the Kryptonite from here." Supergirl said as Lena checked her phone.
"That should not be a problem for long." Lena said as Metallo got to his feet.
"A new kryptonian, interesting." Metallo said, though it honestly didn't make much difference to him, since Kryptonite had been chosen as his power source for a reason. Besides, he figured he could use this as an opportunity to get a raise on the amount he was being paid, since he'd only been hired to kill Lena Luthor. Killing a kryptonian, that would cost his employer extra and if he succeeded, he knew his employer would be more than happy to pay it.
"I'm assuming Lex Luthor hired you?" Supergirl asked.
"I see you have more than just looks. Though if you were really smart, then you'd know that I can kill you with ease." Metallo said as he fired off a kryptonite blast at Supergirl, who managed to dodge it and attacked him from behind him, causing them both to go flying down to ground, making an impact crater outside the building.
"How far out is the DEO?" Lena asked as she and Alex looked down at the crater.
"Still about 10 minutes out. We're gonna have to hope that she can dodge and keep civilians safe until they get here." Alex said.
"There's not enough time for that." Lena said.
"So what do you suggest?" Alex asked.
"That you trust me for about 30 seconds, since did you really think that I haven't been preparing for the possibility that Kara would be fighting kryptonite?" Lena asked her, right as some kind of drone flew past them.
"Is that what I think it is?" Alex asked as she saw the drone make its way to Kara.
Kara smiled as she got to her feet after the fall and saw a familiar drone make its way to her and as soon as it did, the drone hovered over the s symbol on her chest and finally attached to her suit before it began to expand into her kryptonite suit from the old reality.
"Thank you Lena." Kara said with a grin, since this would definitely help her win some extra points not only with her, but also with the rest of the Legion.
"What's that supposed to be?" Metallo asked as he tried blasting her again, but this time, she took the blast full on and grinned under the helmet when the suit did not let anything hit her.
"A way to take away your advantage." Supergirl said, since she knew from experience that while Metallo was tough, his primary tactic was to rely on his kryptonite heart. Now she'd taken away his main weapon.
"Oh, so now we do this the hard way. I have to admit, this is more fun than I thought it would be alien." Metallo said as the two charged at each other and while he landed some solid shots, he was clearly outmatched by Supergirl, who defeated much more easily this time.
"You won't stop me from completing my mission. And once I kill you, I'll do what I was hired to do and kill Lena Luthor." Metallo said.
"Not gonna happen." Supergirl growled, since she was not letting this maniac or anyone else Lex or Lillian would send to kill Lena.
"Let's just see how well your little suit will hold up against this." Metallo said as Supergirl watched the kryptonite in his chest glow, indicating that he was charging it up to blast her.
"Are you crazy? Do you have any idea what you're doing?" Supergirl asked, since she could tell that he was pushing his kryptonite heart way past its limits.
"I'm doing what I was hired to do." Metallo said.
"You're gonna kill everyone around us if you don't stop." Supergirl said.
"Liar." Metallo said as he tried to fire, only to find something was wrong as he felt the energy in him continue to build.
"I told you. You can't control it anymore. The kryptonite in your system is too unstable." Supergirl warned.
"I'm sure if I can release the energy build up, that should solve both my problems." Metallo said as he continued trying to blast her, but it didn't work.
"Supergirl." J'onn said over the comms.
"About time you showed up, Metallo's about to go critical. Is there any way to stop it?" Supergirl asked.
"If you can remove your helmet without being affected by the kryptonite radiation, you should be able to use your freeze breath to cool him down and restore stability." J'onn said.
"Got it." Supergirl said as she took a deep breath before removing her helmet and taking a deep breath before she tried to use her freeze breath to cool the kryptonite energy down, but between the heat coming from Metallo's body melting the ice and the kryptonite radiation weakening Kara slightly, it wasn't working.
"It's not working. I think it's too far gone." Supergirl said.
"Then put your helmet back on and get him as high up into the atmosphere as possible. The further he is from the surface when he detonates, the better." J'onn said.
"Copy." Supergirl said as she put her helmet back on and flew towards Metallo and before he could stop her, she picked him up and flew him upwards.
"What are you doing?" Metallo asked as he felt the air getting thinner and it becoming harder to breathe.
"Making sure the only person who gets hurt when you blow up is you." Supergirl said, grateful that her suit and helmet allowed her to fly into space as she reached a high enough point that she could throw him straight up so that the lack of gravity could take over and send him floating up and she managed to get away right as Metallo exploded and while the kryptonite didn't hit her, the force of the explosion still hit her back, making her kind of fall towards the ground even faster, but she managed to stop herself from crashing as she landed in the crater and finally retracted her suit and looked around to see people looking at her with their phones out and she smiled before she took off.
It was official. Supergirl was back.
