Falling into another world was a mistake

A Conversation

(Y/N POV)
A week or so has passed since I started talking with Vi. And I hate to brag but I am basically an expert in this new language, if being an expert is me sitting for like five minutes contemplating what I heard and responding in a very broken sentence back. The nice thing about this is how patient Vi has been and we haven't spoken about what occurred in the jungle. The only other side affect from this whole thing is that my drawing has gotten considerably better since it's used to supplement anything that I end up saying in English. Even writing with the quill has become easier.

I once again am being dragged to the room Vi and I talk in except this time im not being blindfolded. The lady dragging me I believe her name is Brina, she's the same lady who was leading the squad who found me in the jungle. We passed by some of the other guards all of them being some sort of animal girl, and some of them had that kind of predatory look in their eyes as we passed them.

Thankfully we arrived to our location and I took my usual seat facing the wall. As I waited for Vi to arrive I just mentally went over something's I wanted to ask now that I had an undeveloped understanding of the language, such as why only have female guards here, why are all the prisoners men from different species, general information about the world I now lived in, and of course magic. I figured magic would be a thing since well it's a stereotypical fantasy trope and I've seen elves in here, and there is no way that one of the guards could have thrown that stone spike manually. My rumination's ended when I started to hear the door open along with the steps to accompany the doors shutting.

Y/N: Vi, it's lovely to see you again.

Vi: Y/N, it's nice to see you too.

I waited for her to put down the map, parchment and quill.

Vi: Since we are speaking now speaking with some clarity I really would like to ask some questions.

Y/N: Sure I had some questions too if you don't mind?

Vi just shook her head and gestured that I could speak first. I pointed at the map as I asked my question.

Y/N: Can you tell me about the kingdoms outside of Rocheria?

Vi unrolled the map and pointed to the nation to the left of the Rocherian Empire

Vi: this is the Scapes, it's inhabited by Demon-kin. They are blocked by the Garis Mountains. Some of the major species from that land are Oni, Orc, Succubi, and of course Demons. They were once a unified land before the CIN had formed to combat the Demon Empress.

Y:N CIN?

Vi: Coalition of Independent Nations, it was an emergency alliance formed by the Humans, Elves and Rocherians. The CIN has since been dissolved but a remnant remains which allows free movement between all of the nations. To the north you have the Human lands. They were once a single empire but after the CIN dissolved their emperor died and the whole nation fell apart leaving many tiny kingdoms. They are our biggest border mainly separated by the Lyches River. Finally to our right there are the Elves. They mostly inhabit the Amberstone Forest. They are governed by a monarchy though not much is actually known about it. Then there are the many islands that dot the ocean around us that have minor races or subraces of the major ones I just mentioned.

I looked at the map still connecting some of the pieces that were missing from that explanation. Once I was sure I had some sort of understanding of what Vi had just said I gestured for her to speak.
