(Y/N POV)

The time really does fly when you sleep and work in the same place, especially if your job is the same everyday. Wake up, get dressed, grab a small breakfast, wake up Vi, see to her morning routine needs, escort her to breakfast, then play the rest of the day by ear. The monotony of doing mostly the same things had made each day go by way too fast. The only thing that makes each day unique is Xerna, she has the power to destroy your ability to work on anything, whether it be holding you in conversations or just dragging you away with a petty excuse of needing you for something more important.

The way Xerna would craft problems for me to fix to either annoy Vi or just to talk to me was slightly endearing, the only problem being that she always did them around when it was our magic lessons. Take this very moment I was currently being dragged by Xerna to go the local markets. She swept me up heading to Vi's room talking about how I was good with numbers and she was learning how the prices of the market changes weekly. Didn't take a genius to know that the excuse was poorly made up though I didn't dare ask what the real reason was.

(Flashback)

Xerna was talking to me about what she was learning from her fighting instructor more specifically some kind of stance that gave her a stronger defense. Xerna knew that I didn't have an interest in the art of combat well at least not physical combat but I did my due diligence and paid attention. I just didn't know why she was talking to me about it.

Y/N: Sorry to interrupt Xerna, but I was just wondering why you were talking about this to me? Would this not be a subject more suited to your eldest sister or parents.

If I received a needle for each second her glare was held on me, you'd swear I was made of metal. As I looked back into her eyes she had shifted them away looking up as if in thought.

Xerna: As a servant of the royal family you will listen to whatever I tell you.

Y/N: I have no problem listening to whatever you wish to talk about, it just seemed like you were looking for praise, and the subject seemed more appropriate for those I mentioned earlier.

If the last glare killed me by a thousand cuts this glare would have just vaporized me. It was the hardest glare I think I've ever seen, though it didn't seem to hold all that much weight in them.

Xerna: You just said all that just to say you'll listen to what I tell you anyway.

Y/N: Outside of it being my job, I do actually like talking to you. The servants are either looking at me like I'm a slab of meat or they are just tryna buddy up with me to also become Vi's servant, and I don't really talk to the lady's of the house. So I only really get ti talk to you and Vi.

Xerna looked kinda blankly at me for a second before she got this huge grin on her face. It took me a second before I realized she wasn't looking at me blankly just that she was in a trance. So I snapped in her face.

Y/N: Hey you good Xerna, you kinda got lost in thought.

Xerna: it's nothing that matters to a servant like you, but if you like listening to me talk I'll be sure to indulge you.

Y/N: Uh that's not what I said, and she walked away.

(Present Day)

So I learned my lesson and decided to not question whatever motive Xerna had to take me to the market. Alas here we were at the bustling market closest to the palace. The sight was pretty tremendous shops taking up both sides of the block ranging from small food stands, to what could only be described as a warehouse selling just about everything one could need. It faintly reminded me of that one big store back home, It was at the tip of my tongue. It started with a W and that's all I managed to recollect before I heard snapping. A quick shake of my head brought me back enough to see Xerna sporting a slight pout snapping her fingers in my face.
