I think today went pretty good. Everyone seemed convinced.

It's pathetic, I know, I but I loved being her boyfriend today. Even if it's not real, she was mine to everyone at school. I got to be so close to her, even kiss her cheek. I swear, I think I'm addicted to her.

I look down at my phone and fight every bone in my body not to call her. Come on, Asher, that's so desperate. You'll freak her out. My fingers move before I have time to think it through and suddenly the phone is calling her.

It went dead at 3 rings so, yeah, she's being stubborn again. I smile to myself slightly and press call again. Well, it's official, I'm whipped.

Finally, she answers and her voice fills my room. "Hello?"

"Hello, love," I smile cheekily, twisting in my desk chair.

"Hi, Asher," she sighs.

"Well, someone's in a good mood. Whatcha doing?"

"What do you want, Asher?" she says like she's annoyed.

Oh, right, what do I want? I probably should have thought of an excuse to call before I actually did. "Um, nothing, just wanted to say I think we really convinced everyone today."

Nice, totally didn't sound nervous.

"Yeah, I guess so," she says quietly.

I sit up a little and cross my arm. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm fine, Look, I've got a lot of homework, I've got to-"

"If we're going to do this you've got to talk to me at least a little," I push. A second of silence goes by.

"My friends, they just, they're not thrilled about this. Especially Austin," she says.

I think for a minute. I really don't have any friends, I don't know how to help her. But I can't let her be upset, I have to at least try and help.

"You guys seem pretty close," I start. "I think that when you're that close with a person, almost any argument can be resolved. Just give it time, he'll come around."

She stays quiet for a minute. I hope I said the right thing. "Yeah, hopefully," she says quietly.

She seems nervous. I don't think she's a very sentimental person, she doesn't really like to talk things out. So, to try and savor her good mood, I clear my throat and bring up a new topic so I can keep talking to her.

"So, what did you change my ID to?"

"Huh?" She says.

I smile to myself. "My caller ID. C'mon, don't tell me I have to tell you everything about relationships," I groan playfully. She stays silent for a moment.

I wonder if she's ever even had a boyfriend other than Jones. And if that didn't go well, then she probably doesn't even know what a good relationship is like. What couples do. I want to teach her. I will teach her.
