Ronnie's POV

We got to the end of the lake where there's a little cliff that we like to jump off of into the water. Right when we parked Cody took off his shirt and ran to the cliff and jumped in. Now that he was in the water he couldn't hear us.

"Okay June what did you want to tell us?" I asked

"You guys can't tell anyone. This stays between us, ok?" She paused and looked at Arden and I, "I really like Cody."

I just said oh and looked down. No I don't like Cody, we're just really good friends. I was just a little upset because back in junior high I had the biggest crush on him for three years. I didn't tell June or Arden, and I sure as hell didn't tell Cody. So now that she likes him I'm afraid she'll have the courage to tell him and they'll date. If they dated I wouldn't be jealous, it's just that when I did like him I thought about telling him everyday because I thought he might've liked me back, but I was way too nervous to tell him. Now I'll never know if we could've been something. Then again, it was just junior high so any relationship we had would've probably just been an awkward mess.
Arden looked really surprised and she started talking.

"Don't worry, we won't tell Cody that you li-"

She stopped talking once she noticed that Cody got out of the water and was walking towards us."What are we not telling Cody?" He asked

June looked really freaked out and then randomly said, "Oh they just weren't going to tell you that I li....ED. Yep that's it I lied about the other night. My mom said I could've gone to the drive-in movies with you guys I just didn't feel like hanging out. Oops I guess it's out in the open now." She nervously laughed, then sighed with relief that she (sort of) covered that up.

"Uhh... Okay. It's fine really It's not that big of a deal," he said and laughed as he walked back over the edge of the cliff, "Are you guys coming?"

"Yeah just one second" I said and he nodded and waited by the edge.

"Thank god I covered that up. We'll talk about this later," June whispered.

After that we walked over to where Cody was standing and jumped into the water. The cold water felt so nice after being in the hot sun all day.

Through out the day at the lake I noticed that June would splash Cody and mess around with him a lot. I just realized that she's been doing that with him for a while. I'm surprised I haven't noticed that she likes him, I wonder if he knows.

Cody's POV

We're at the lake swimming. We've been here for about an hour, and we'll probably be here for quite a while. June has dunked me underwater at least three times. She's either trying to kill me or... Well I don't know what else it would be. If it was anyone else I'd say maybe they have a thing for me but not June. We're such good friends there's no way she'd ever feel that way so I don't really know what's up with her.

You're probably thinking, Cody, why do you only hang out with girls? I don't. I have another group of friends which is just guys. It's not like the two groups don't get along, they've just never really all hung out together. Maybe they will someday. The only thing that I don't like is that the guys think I only hang out with Arden, Ronnie, and June because I'm in love with them or something, which I'm not. It's not like they aren't beautiful, they are. They're all so pretty and they have amazing personalities but I don't think I'd date any of them because we've been friends for so long. I don't think of them as sisters but we are really close.

Anyways we're swimming at the lake and the girls were talking about something earlier. June had a horrible cover up for it but I can't figure out what they might've been talking about. I'm not really freakin about it though, they'll probably tell me eventually anyways.

Ronnie's POV

It's been a couple hours and we're all in Arden's backyard now.

"Holy shit," Cody whispered

"What?" Arden asked

"We're going to be seniors next year."

We all just sat there. I knew that already but it hadn't really hit me. One more year of high school and then I would move out of this small town into the real world.

A couple minutes later Cody got up.
"Hey guys I got to go but I'll see you tomorrow. Ronnie, June, need a ride?"
"Yeah. See you guys later" June said
"Bye," said Arden and I.

"Staying the night Ronnie?" Arden asked.
"Yeah if that's alright with you."

So I know I said that when my mom died my sister took over as the motherly figure, but so did Arden's mom. I needed an actual mother figure since Rose is only two years older than me. There have been times recently when my dad gets really sad about my mom and he'll drive up to his family and stay with them for a while, and Rose will be staying with her boyfriend so I'll stay at Arden's house. Her mom always gives me advice. If I need someone to talk to I'll go to her. She never really minds if I stay at her house, so I'm here a lot.

"I can't believe June likes Cody," Arden said.
"Yeah I know. I just can't believe that we didn't figure it out on our own. June isn't very subtle."
"Yeah. I just hope that this doesn't mess anything up with Cody."

God I hope this doesn't mess anything up.
