Ronnie's POV

I just got home from hanging out with Cody's friends. I can't believe River asked me out. I'm so happy and I can't wipe the smile off of my face.

"Someone looks happy," Rose said.
"Yeah," I said.
"What happened?"
"Someone asked me out on a date."
"Who?"
"One of Cody's friends. His name is River."
"Oooohhh Ronnie you better give me details. How did he ask you? Where are you going?"
"He walked me home from the movies and asked me. I don't really know where we're going, but he's picking me up here on Friday night."
"Do you like him?"
"Yeah. He's so dreamy and nice."
"This is so cute. My baby sister going on a date. If he hurts you I'll kill him though."
"Rose! This is only a first date calm down."
"Okay okay I'm sorry."
"I'm going to go to bed I'm tired."
"Okay, goodnight Ronnie."
"Goodnight."

I went upstairs and attempted to go to sleep, but I was too excited so I called Arden. I didn't even wait for her to say hello I just started talking.

"Hey Arden how's it going?"
"I'm good. How was it with Cody's friends?"
"It was fun. You'll never guess what just happened."
"Tell me then."
"One of his friends asked me out."

She started laughing. Why was this funny to her?

"What did he say when you rejected him?"
"I didn't. I said yes."
"Really? I thought he only hung out with idiots."
"No. River, he's different."
"His name is River?"
"Yeah."
"Well when are you going out?"
"He's picking me up Friday at 7."
"Okay can you come over tomorrow?"
"Yeah."
"Okay I'll have June come too so we can talk."
"Okay see you tomorrow. Bye."
"Bye."

After that I went to sleep.

River's POV

When I got back to Mitch's house he was still passed out, but in his parent's room. I still had a smile plastered on my face.

"I did it," I said.
"Did what?" Cody asked. Then I remembered that they didn't even know I like Ronnie.
"I asked Ronnie out." Cody looked at me with a weird expression. I couldn't tell if he was mad or what.
"Do you really like her?"
"Yeah. She seems really great."

Cody got up and walked over to me.
"I trust you. I know you're a good person because we're friends, but I'm also friends with Ronnie. I'm also very protective of Ronnie. I don't know why, but I've always been like that. She seems more fragile than Arden and June and I definitely don't want her to get hurt."

I never thought I'd say this, but Cody just scared me.

"You don't have to worry man, River ain't gonna hurt her. You know that." Tommy said.
"I'm not going to hurt her Cody, okay?"
"Alright. Sorry if I was weird I'm just trying to protect her."
"I get it man it's fine."

As if I wasn't nervous enough about the date, now I'm nervous about Cody. I just shook it off though because I have no intention of hurting Ronnie. I really like her.

"I'm going to go to sleep now I'm tired." "Okay we'll go in Mitch's room so you can sleep on the couch."

Ronnie's POV

It's the next day now (Thursday). I just got to Arden's house and June is already here. We all sat down on the couch in her living room to talk.

"So, how was yesterday?" June asked.
"It was really fun actually. Why did you guys leave?"
"I think you know why I left."
"Well, yeah. But what about you Arden?"
"I don't know. I was thinking about what June said, about how she didn't want drama or change. I was feeling the same way." Arden said.
"Well next time you guys should stay, his friends are actually pretty cool. Their names are Tommy, Levi, Mitch, and River."
"I want to know more about this River kid and your date tomorrow," Arden said.
"Wait. Seriously?" June said excitedly.
"Yes, River asked me out on a date."

Then I told them about River; how he looks, his personality, him walking me home. They seemed happy for me.

"Okay now that Ronnie told us about her date I need to tell you something." June said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"I think I want to tell Cody. I just don't know when to do it."
"Are you sure you want to?" Arden asked.
"Well, yeah. Why?"
"You're the one who doesn't like change or drama, and this is a big change."
"Yeah I know. I just really don't want to keep it a secret anymore."
"Well maybe you should tell him when Ronnie's on her date with River."
"Yeah I think that's a good idea," I said.

River's POV

When we were all awake we decided to go to the market to get food. As we were walking I decided to tell Mitch.

"Hey Mitch, I just wanted to let you know that I asked Ronnie on a date."
"Good for you man. I mean, all of us want to get in her pants and you're the only one who had the courage to ask her out."
"Shut up Mitch!" Cody said, "Stop talking about Ronnie like that."
"Sorry man."
"I don't want to get in her pants Mitch, I want to get to know her." I said.
"Whatever you say River. Anyways, when are you going out?"
"I'm picking her up at 7 tomorrow."
"Where are you taking her?" Levi asked.
"I'm not really sure. I either want to go to the drive in, or go out in the forest."
"What would you do in the forest?" Tommy asked laughing a little bit.
"Actually, I'm going to take her to 31 flavors for ice cream, if we went to the movies we wouldn't be able to talk."
"Well I hope you guys have fun," Cody said.

Ronnie's POV

Today is Friday, the day of the date. I can't believe today I'm going on a date, and June is telling Cody she likes him. She said she called him and they're going to meet to go to the movies and she's going to tell him afterwards. I hope everything turns out alright.

It's 10:00 a.m. and our date isn't until 7:00 p.m. so I have all day to physically and mentally prepare myself. That sounded weird, huh? I just haven't ever really been on a date, so I'm really nervous.

When I went downstairs for breakfast Rose was drinking coffee and sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Good morning Ronnie."
"Good morning."
"Are you excited for your date today?"
"Yeah, I'm extremely nervous though."
"Wait here for a minute," she said and then went into the kitchen. I sat down on the couch and watched tv until she came back carrying a little tray.

"Since today is a big deal for you, and me too actually, I made you breakfast. Pancakes, strawberries and a nice mug full of coffee." She set the tray down on the coffee table smiling.

"Thanks sis." I smiled and started eating. "I'm so nervous."
"How come?"
"Well this is kind of my first date."
"Really? I didn't know that."
"Yeah."
"There's no reason to be nervous Ronnie. Being completely honest with you, the boy who's taking you on this date is probably just as nervous as you are. What's his name again?"
"River, and I just don't want there to be awkward silences. I don't know. It's just that I really like him and I want the date to go well."
"Everything will be fine. I remember how nervous I was before my first date."
"What happened?"
"The date went fine, just like yours will."
"Thanks," I smiled, "these pancakes are really good."
"I used mom's recipe that's why."

"I really miss her."
"I know, I do too. She'll be watching you on your date. She's always watching."
"Yeah."
"Love you Ronnie."
"Love you Rose."

After that we just watched tv for a little while and then I went upstairs to get ready. I know I have the whole day, but I have nothing else to do.

After I showered I decided to do my makeup while I let my hair air dry. I usually don't wear makeup but it's a special occasion so I decided to put on mascara and a little blush. Afterwards I went to pick out an outfit. I picked out some blue jeans and a dressy yellow top.

Then I went downstairs and read while my hair dried the rest of the way and I brushed it out. I'm watching tv now waiting for River, it's almost seven.

A little while later I heard a knock on the door.
