No and plus whose bright idea was it to go out clubbing a week before our exams, oh right my bad that would have been me. Didn't seem like a great idea at that moment though. I take a deep breath before slamming back my fifth tequila shot in one go.
"Look at our girl go"
I turned to face my friends, wobbling slightly as i did so. I gave them a shaky smile before draping my arm around my best mate Bex's shoulder.
"You guy's! You know i love you like a lot right? Like you mean so much to me." My voice slurred slightly.
They all let out a small chuckle. Whilst Bex and em grabbed my arms to support my balance, Leah and Bea started to walk ahead securing a clear exit out of the club for us.
"Why did you leave me Raf? No word from you from all these years, what happened?" I asked no one in particular, whilst trying to wriggle out of Bex and Em's grip so i could run away back to the club.
"No sweetie you've had too much to drink and you can't go back, we're going home" Bex said whilst making soothing noises whilst I was nestling my head into her neck.
"I want Raf though" i whined with my voice muffled slightly.
"No sweetie Raf left remember, how about we talk about this later when you're sober"
"No I'm tired i think Imma sleep now, night night" i flopped down onto the pavement outside of the club. I didn't even realise that we had made it out. That was the last thing i remember before passing out. _________________________________________________________________________ The present moment:
I wake up to a bright light shining into my room and directly into my eyes. I let out a groan before attempting to get out of bed. See I emphasis the word attempt as the minute I got up, the world's biggest migraine crept up on me causing me to sit back down.
As i start to regret my life decisions i catch Bex's head pop around the door.
"Hey sleepy head, you've been out for hours It's nearly six at night. The girls have lectures till eight but what about some quiet time with your bestest friend of all times?"
Not waiting for a reply, she climbs into bed joining me under the covers. "Look Bex I feel shit and I wanna sleep leave me alone" I whine whilst a trying to stay out of her sight
" And who's fault is that? We all told you to slow down but you didn't. Plus Finn called twice today wanting to talk to you. Apparently you've been avoiding him for a couple of days. I thought you guys were okay now?"
Shit I forgot about Finn. Finn and I met a few years ago at the start of uni. I was in a bad place at the time, I'd just gotten out of a toxic relationship and I met Finn at a party and well he was fun to be around and I liked him.
"Look I don't wanna be rude but you can't ignore your boyfriend forever. He apologised over what happened with Niki. You know it's not his fault he stopped her as soon as she leaned in for the kiss. And to be perfectly honest I don't think that's the reason you're ignoring him."
"What are you trying to say Bex?" Snapping my full attention on her.
" You were talking about HIM again last night. When will you ever realise that he's gone Liv. GONE! He's never coming back. He left 15 years ago, he clearly doesn't care. But instead you're screwing up a relationship with the one person who's stuck by you. When will you truly understand that staying stuck in the past will never work. Enter real life babe cause if you don't you're gonna lose everything" she gets up and goes to leave not before sending me a dark glare and closing the door.
"Yeah well fuck you! Here's the woman giving me relationship advice when she can't even hold a man longer than a 90 minute football game!!!" I yell.
But I know it's too late cause she's already left. What she said was true and despite my hostile response I know that too. I love Bex with all my heart and I know she's looking out for me. But one thing she'll never understand is that I'll never be able to forget Rafael as when he left he took a large chunk of my heart with him. ____________________________________ Hey guys!! Sorry it's been so long. Exam season is so stressful, but thankfully it's all over now!!! No more worrying until next year 😂. I hope you're loving my story so far. I think we all have a best friend like Bex, someone who's truthful and hard yet always looking out for you and only wants the best! Which is why I love her so much already.
