A/n: Hello and welcome to my first ever Harry Potter story. Perhaps one of my biggest/guiltiest secrets was that I had never read or seen Harry Potter 😬 However, all of the films were recently added to Netflix and I finally decided to give them a go... I watched them all in about a week 🤣 I wish I had watched them sooner. One of the characters I absolutely fell in love with was Draco Malfoy and I felt so compelled to write a story for him 😂😊 But, because I am not too familiar with all of the lore of how magic in the HP world exists I decided to draw inspiration from another one of my favourite fandoms, The Originals! I hope this works and people like it. Basically, the OC is Freya Mikaelson's daughter and a first-born Mikaelson witch so her magic is very powerful and a bit different to the typical Hogwarts students' magic. Feel free to let me know any tips for writing a HP/Draco story or anything you might like to see happen! Enjoy! 🖤

Astrid Mikaelson entered Hogwarts castle along with all the other new first years. It was the first time in nearly 15 years that someone with the surname Mikaelson had entered the school. During the First Wizarding War, the Mikaelson family were cursed by Voldemort and the death eaters in an effort to strip them of their power and dethrone one of the most influential Wizarding families. Afterwards, the Ministry of Magic feared what they had been turned into and outcasted the family, despite them being one of the original, pure blood wizarding families.

Astrid was well aware of her family's reputation - both before and after their curse - two of her uncles were very boastful; however, she was just at that age where she didn't care about being a Mikaelson. In fact, Astrid was worried about how their reputation would affect her making friends at school.

Thankfully, the attention was off her and her family for once, everyone was too focused on another new boy, named, Harry Potter. He was better known as 'The Boy Who Lived' having been the only person to survive an attack by Voldemort, The Dark Lord.

Astrid overheard a fellow pureblood wizard, Draco Malfoy, introduce himself to Harry, explaining the differences between the families in a not so nice way, dashing her hopes that he would accept her given her family's recent history.

Professor McGonagall led them into the great hall and after Professor Dumbledore read out the start-of-term notices, McGonagall began the Sorting Ceremony.

Astrid's name was the last one to be called out and as soon as those words left Professor McGonagall's lips tension filled the huge room and there were more whispers than when Harry Potter was called. Her mother, Freya debated sending her with a fake name, but Astrid's uncle, Klaus, pointed out that the Sorting Hat would instantly know who she was given his power, so they decided there was no point.

Teachers and students alike looked on nervously while the Sorting Hat made his decision. "Ah! A Mikaelson! It's been a while. Let's see... I sense drive, ambition and power, common traits in your family. But something about you is different I just can't quite put my finger on it, hmm... SLYTHERIN!" He shouted.

"There's not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin." Ron whispered to Harry at the Gryffindor table.

After the feast, the Slytherin prefect, Gemma Farley, led her new housemates down into the dungeons, showing them the secret entrance to the Slytherin common room. It's windows looked out into Hogwarts Lake and the children saw squid, fish and even the Loch Ness monster swim by.

"Boys' dormitory is upstairs to the left. Girls, the same on your right. You'll find all of your belongings have already been brought up." Gemma announced.
