A/n: I realise that I haven't done a face claim for Astrid and it's because I'm really struggling to think of a celebrity that looks like her. I have just been picturing a really young Riley Voelkel (Freya), Dove Cameron or Kelsea Ballerini.

The annual summer solstice was always something to celebrate for supernatural and human species alike. For humans, it was simple, they got nice weather. For supernatural species, it had a bit more meaning. Werewolves didn't have to face their curse for as long with the shorter nights. Witches and wizards had various festivals linked to the sun, stars and moon throughout the year; certain families had stronger links to them than others, the Blacks, for instance. It was at these times that Narcissa got to explain more of her heritage and family legacy to Draco, usually he was too busy having his head filled with ideas from Lucius about how he would take over the Malfoy family empire.

The Mikaelsons, on the other hand, had double to celebrate. Not only did they have the Norse pagan festival of Midsummarblot, but their niece just so happened to be born on that day, truly marking the victory of light and heat over the darkness and cold of Voldemort's attacks and their subsequent losses.

This year, Klaus had decided to throw a ball to officially mark their return and triumph. Although, it was held a few days after Astrid's birthday so that the family had ample time to celebrate.

The family had their minions drop whispered rumours of a ball around hotspots for each of the factions. Whispers of excitement, worry, and hopefulness fluttered throughout all. However, nothing seemed to come of it until one morning. Invitations flew through letterboxes, magical notes appeared in pockets, and fire messages burned in front of people's eyes, all reading:

Most recipients were thrilled, such as, Lucius Malfoy who looked down at the pristine invitation chuckling at the Mikaelson family's humour

Most recipients were thrilled, such as, Lucius Malfoy who looked down at the pristine invitation chuckling at the Mikaelson family's humour.

However, some of Lucius' old friends whose allegiances hadn't switched so easily complained "It's not bad enough they moved into town, now they want a housewarming gift?"

The Mikaelsons themselves also had slightly different reactions about the night's events and the roles they had to play durning it:

"Rebekah, tell me how handsome I am." Kol called from in front of the mirror. He, Elijah and Finn were being fitted for new suits while Rebekah sat on the couch having her nails painted by a manicurist as music played in the background.
"Oh, Kol, you know I can't be compelled." She jeered back drawing a smirk from Finn. All of the Mikaelsons had the traditional stunning Scandinavian beauty but Rebekah definitely didn't need to inflate her youngest older brother's ego.
