Black's POV

-

"Unfortunately after decades of warnings from scientists and researchers, the politicians have not heeded our warning. It has now been concluded that as of year 2XXX, the Earth will be unable to sustain life within the next 30 years due to global warming and diminishing resources. Fortunately, scientists have discovered a new planet identical to Earth that has plenty of resources called Zeno. It will take 25 years to get to the new planet. With Yuan Co. being the leading company to fund and build the spacecraft to get us there along with NASA, our future looks hopeful."

I look at the newscaster on the TV before I switch off the news once they segment into the next story. Well, we're screwed. I can guarantee that the rich will be the first to go, leaving all of us poor people to deal with the consequences.

I sigh before getting up and getting ready for the day before trying to reach out to my brother again.

Black:

Nong, how are you?

Are you eating your meals?

I pocket my phone before grabbing my motorcycle keys and heading to the garage. My twin brother, White, and I have been separated since we were 11 years old. Through my ex and childhood friend Todd, we have managed to stay in contact with each other. We have not seen each other in person in the last 10 years, but we have always remained close even though our parents actively tried to keep us from contacting each other. Honestly, if they wanted to do that, one of them should have left the country taking us with them.

Once I got to the garage, I could hear my friend, Yok, as lively as ever from outside before I even entered the building.  "It's ridiculous! Just watch! We'll all be left here to die!" I enter the building to see everyone gathered around a coffee table in the centre of the garage. Yok was seated on one of the old couches that were around the coffee table next to his boyfriend, Dan, who had his arm around his shoulders. Dan joined our group a year ago after he managed to save Yok from a rival gang trying to ambush him when he was alone with his deaf mother. Yok immediately fell head over heels for him. It took a lot of convincing due to his background as an ex-cop but we finally allowed him to hang around.

"There's not very much that we could do in the meantime," Sean stated from a chair to Yok's right. "Plus there is nothing built yet, so we're all stuck here together." Across from him sat Gumpa, who is like the dad of our group, on another chair to the left of Yok and Dan. I walk over to the other couch where Gram is sitting across from Yok and Dan and take a seat next to him. I start to get irritated causing Gram to interlock our fingers.

Right as I was about to say something my phone when off. I saw that it was my brother texting me back.

White:

Morning Phi. I'm doing fine.

I have a Saturday class this morning that I don't want to go to though.

Please come save me, Phi. :'(

Black:

I wish I could but you know that I can't.

Study hard so you can graduate early. It's your last semester, right?
