Flirting with the Devil

Chapter 3

He closed the door behind me and walked over to where I was standing. I wasn’t sure what I expected him to say or do but I was scared out of my mind.

“I’m sorry for how I acted downstairs,” Sebastian apologized, taking me by surprise.

“Ok whatever, just tell me what the hell is going on. Your eyes keep on changing color, your accent keeps on changing and I can swear even your body changed today on the beach,” I said looking him straight in the eyes which were now completely blue. I should have expected it but it still took me by surprise. I let out a soft gasp as I took a step away from him.

“It’s better if you don’t know. Why don’t you go downstairs and tell your parents that I apologize for my behavior and that I’ll be down shortly,” he replied.

“What? And just forget everything that’s happened!?” I half yelled, not believing that he wasn’t even going to try to explain anything to me. He shook his head from side to side in disapproval and walked to his door opening it and gesturing for me to leave.

“I’m not going anywhere until you give me some answers,” I stated stubbornly, staying where I was.

“I really didn’t want to do this,” he said and as soon as the words left his mouth I felt a strange sensation running through my body. My legs started walking towards his door but I wasn’t controlling them, I tried to stand my ground but I just kept on walking until I was outside his room. I looked at him in shock as my body moved on its own and I couldn’t help but notice a look of regret on his face. What the hell was going on?

As soon as I was in the hallway I regained control of my body as his bedroom door closed without anybody touching it. I still didn’t know what was going on and now I was even more freaked out then before. Something was seriously wrong with Sebastian.

I had to tell my parents what was going on, we had to get him out of our house. I set off running down the hall towards the steps when I felt the house starting to shake. My first thought was that it was an earthquake but then I heard something behind me and I turned around to see Sebastian stepping out of his room and looking at me with the strangest expression on his face.

The house started shaking even more violently causing me to stumble and fall to the ground.

“I can’t let you tell them,” he said as the house shook around us. I felt my body go cold as he said those words, confirming that it was him doing it. My whole body started trembling with fear as he walking towards me.

“Leave us alone you sick freak!” I yelled, trying to get to my feet but failing miserably.

I probably shouldn’t have called him that because it looked like it really upset him. He let out an awful roaring sound that I never would have believed to have come from a human if I hadn’t seen it myself. All the room's doors in the hallway started flapping open and closed and a strong howling wind swept through the house.

“Go downstairs and pretend like this never happened,” Sebastian ordered, still walking towards me.

“No! I won’t help you, I’m going to tell my parents and then they’ll get rid of you!” I shouted over the noise.

“Get rid of me? Do you really think that is possible?” he questioned as a sadistic smile formed on his face.

“No,” I answered honestly as I started sobbing out of fear.

“Good, so now you are going to go downstairs and act like this was an earthquake. If you say one word about what just happened or what you saw today I will kill them. Do you understand me?” he asked, still wearing that same smile on his face.

“Yes I understand,” I replied and as soon as I said it the doors stopped moving, the wind stopped howling and the house stopped shaking.

I still couldn’t believe what just happened so I just sat there on the floor in complete shock.

“Go,” he ordered, looking irritated. I got to my feet not wanting to upset him again and made my way down the stair, stumbling a few times and almost falling. I was still shaking but at least I didn’t have to act normal, I’m sure my parents wouldn’t suspect anything if I was a bit shaken up.

“Are you ok?” my mom asked, running towards me.

“Yea, I’m fine,” I lied. She grabbed me and pulled me into a hug, she was shaking too.

“Where’s Sebastian?” My father asked, joining us.

“I’m right here,” I heard somebody say in a French accent and turned around to see Sebastian walking down the stair. His eyes were back to their normal brown color and he had a worried expression on his face which my parents would think to be normal after an earthquake.

“Oh thank God you’re all ok, I was so worried,” my mom said giving me another hug.

“Were fine, you don’t have to worry anymore,” I tried soothing her. Sebastian didn’t say anything, instead he walked over to the television that was amazingly still in one piece on the wall and switched it on. He surfed through the channels until he got a news channel reporting the earthquake that just hit America. They showed footage that they were receiving from a helicopter. Some areas looked fine but some were a mess, there were people running in the streets crying and screaming as they looked at their crumbled houses.
