Ann waited impatiently, tapping her fingers, on the table. She had got a corner table with a view of the roof top bar directly. The last thing she wanted was for him to notice her sitting here alone without a date. That would just sabotage her whole plan.
"Hello Miss.Ann, Some more champagne?" The server offered, and she just nodded. She gulped it down so quickly, the server topped up the glass again, before leaving the table.
"Hi...Ann? So nice to see you again! Woah...You look...errm..Amazing..." Rohit didn't look so sure. He was stunned to see her in a whole new avatar comparing to the white kurta top she was wearing the last time she met her at his parents.
"OH HI...PLEASE SIT!" Ann said so overly enthusiastically Rohit stepped back a little. "I mean...sit please..."
"Oh..I see you've already started without me....So Champagne it is..." They clinked glasses, and Ann slugged it straight down. She kept taking glances across the bar, trying to spot Shivaay. Was Rudy mistaken? Why wasn't he here yet?
"Wow the menu looks so good here...have you been here before?"
"Errm Yes..." She said distracted, recalling the last time she was here. That was the day Vikram Thaper had tricked her into accepting his dinner proposal. The day Shivaay flipped and declared her his. Only his...She instinctively clutched on to the emerald cuff link.
"The tuna tataki looks good...Should I order that?"
"Huh? Yes..." She gulped down another glass of Champaign, her eyes searching across the room for him.
"Are you? Are you waiting for someone?" Rohit asked noticing her.
"No...No one...sorry...I thought I saw someone I know...So...Rohit...What...What brings you back to India?" She poured herself another glass.
"Err...Ann...we have the whole night....Don't you think you should take it a bit easy?"
"Huh? Ah...Yes...sure...I'll get some water....some sparkling lemon with water please...Err I meant sparkling water..." She asked the server, who placed a large bottle of Perrier right next to her drink, with a glass of lemon.
Finally after many moments of languish, she spot him. She spot him looking dapper in a wine colour suite, a snow white shirt, and a golden dragon fly broach on his pocket square. He had fixed his hair up, just the way she liked it. He looked dashing. But he wasn't alone. There was someone holding on to his arm. A beautiful woman, in a long red cocktail gown, that had a peek a boo slit up to her thigh. She wore a Swarovski dragon fly pendant, matching to the one on his pocket. Ann slugged down her glass again.
She stared, as they walked hand in hand, and the crowd in the bar welcomed them with an applause. What was going on? Why were they clapping? She stood up for a moment, trying to take a glimpse of what's going on.
"Err...Please excuse me...I'll be back...Going to the ladies room..." She smiled awkwardly, at Rohit, who seemed to be pretty occupied by the appetiser in front of him.
She kept walking through the crowd, who was eagerly murmuring to each other. She felt her her breath shortening, and her heart beating faster. She had a weird feeling in her gut, and she didn't like it. She didn't like it at all. The whole world around her started crumbling down, when he took the woman's hand and placed a big ass diamond ring on it. She could see the sparkling rock across the room. Very clearly...
"Congratulations...to Mr.Shivaay Singh Oberoi, and to his Fiancée Miss.Tatiana Rodrigo" Everyone started raising their glasses, and through the crowd, her perplexed eyes, met his piercing blue eyes, that hesitated for a moment. What on earth was she doing here? He saw her hurrying back to the dinner table. She was with someone. Someone that he didn't recognise. She took the bottle of champagne from the ice bucket, and glugged it down. Slow down idiot!
