(Disclaimer: I do not speak for all transgender and transsexual people. This is my opinion on the topic. If you have any other opinions, put them in the comments.)
We all knew this was coming. Seriously. Wait, Timmy didn't? God damnit..
Okay. All kidding aside, transphobia. This really, really sucks, especially because there's so much more to it than physical violence.
1- Just flat out denying it.
Seriously, this hurts. If you just deny a trans* person's identity, it's like telling a dog they're a cat, and when the dog says they're a dog, still insisting that they're a cat. Yeah. Imagine that.2- "Well I've known you for my whole life as (birth name)."
Okay. This is just horribly irrelevant. Like, someone you've known basically your whole life says "Hey (insert your name), could you call me by (insert nickname) instead of my full name?" And your all "Yeah!" Well what difference does being trans give? It's basically the same thing. It's just a nickname, but it's the name that person prefers.3- "You're too young to know."
This is just plain wrong. Your age doesn't matter. Age is just a number that shouldn't define anyone. There.4- "Can I not call you (insert preferred name)? It makes me uncomfortable"
I have one thing to say to you, imaginary person. You're getting on my last nerves. If your uncomfortable with calling someone their preferred name, you should either talk to them to see a compromise, or kindly fuck off.5- "Nothing against you or other people like that, but..."
A: fuck you
B: if you think by saying "not against those people" you get a pass for people to not think that your transphobic, then you are OH SO WRONG.6- "I can't call you (insert preferred name here) because I don't like that name. Maybe it'll grow on me."
Just fuck you.Alright. That's done. Bye guys. If you ever need to talk to anyone, message me. I'll listen. Love you all, beautiful people.
