- INTRODUCTION -
"SEASONS GREETINGS."Leighton 'Rebel' Brooks sat at commentary as she watched the three men in front of her attack Ryback: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns. To Leighton, they were Jon, Colby, and Joe, respectively.
The trio dressed themselves in turtle necks and black cargo pants with black boots, keeping themselves mysterious as Michael Cole tried to uncover the identities of the three men from NXT. Bringing them in had been Phil's idea to keep his story interesting.
Well, that was a lie. Phil brought up the idea to protect Leighton from getting fired. He didn't want to tell her that, though.
The group had successfully rolled Ryback outside of the ring. Roman began to clear the last commentary table standing as Michael, JBL, and Jerry had stood alongside Rebel, clearing the way to avoid injury. Dean and Seth picked up the Big Guy and set him on Roman's shoulders for a triple power bomb.
"Rebel, watch out!" Jerry yelled, with JBL trying to move her body and shield her from what the men in black were presumably trying to do.
The brunette remained still with an amused smile on her face, trying to push the storyline.
Ryback's body slammed against the table, crashing it into the floor as the commentary team winced. Rebel laughed at the site as Dean stepped in front of her with a wink.
"Wait a minute!" Michael yelled. "Rebel, did you know about this?"
Paul Heyman had successfully gotten CM Punk back into the ring to pin a lifeless John Cena. Rebel knew it was her cue to join him. "Shut the hell up, Michael," she scoffed, pushing her heel status. "My brother's about to win."
Rebel grabbed the WWE Championship before sliding back into the ring and handing the title to her big brother. They watched on as the men who assisted Punk left through the crowd to meet up with them backstage. The crowd continued to make noise long after Punk had left their views, bringing a sense of happiness to Leighton.
She knew Phil was struggling. In fact, he was very frustrated with the company. But, she knew that the fans kept him here, at least for the time being.
"Nice one out there," a woman's voice spoke to Phil: it was April, or AJ.
Phil chuckled at his girlfriend before attempting to hug her, though she ran away to avoid getting covered in sweat. Leighton watched on as the two laughed together.
When her best friend and her brother started dating, Leighton did have to adjust. It had been weird, to say the least, to see them become so close to one another. Of course, the two had always been best friends but this was just a different level. Leighton hadn't saw it until their storyline a few months ago, and ever since then she knew it was meant to be.
There was a reason her and AJ were such good friends.
"Missing out on date night with your best friend, huh?" a voice spoke from behind Leighton, causing her to jump. Jon had appeared, covered in water and hair gel, smirking towards her.
Colby and Joe followed Jon to her. She gave them a small smile. "Hardly," she answered, turning back towards Jon. "Why? Did you want to take her place?"
Leighton had only met the trio, whom was agreed would be called The Shield, once during a meeting with creative. Jon had an aura about him that did intrigue her to say the least. Their flirty banter suited them and brought amusement to all that followed, seeing as neither took themselves too seriously.
Jon chuckled, obnoxiously chewing the mint gum in his mouth. "Don't flatter yourself, Brooks," he replied, "I already got a date tonight."
"Yeah, with your hotel bar, I presume," Leighton quickly answered, sending him a challenging smirk as Joe and Colby laughed.
"Actually, Jon gets the couch tonight," Colby chuckled.
Jon grimaced. "No way, I had the couch last night!" he argued. Leighton locked eyes with Joe as the two continued to banter, finding comedy within the duo. They never seemed to run out of energy and Joe was usually the one to bring them down.
Leighton laughed at how close the three of them had been. They didn't need to share a hotel room, yet they opted for one, anyways. Leighton would never, she thought to herself.
The brunette began to walk off as she shook her head, wanting to sit in catering and decompress after the show. It seemed though, that her new companions followed her.
"Not so fast, Brooks," Jon piped up again, causing Leighton to sigh. She stopped and turned again. "You haven't given me a gift yet."
"A gift?"
"The Shield just debuted on Survivor Series for WWE and you haven't gotten me a celebratory gift?" he questioned, pretending to be offended though clearly just trying to annoy her.
Leighton laughed as she continued her walk down the hallway. "That's cute, Good, it really is," she started. "But those turtlenecks were already a gift enough for the rest of us."
"Ouch," Colby laughed.
"That's a low blow," Joe seconded.
Jon, however, seemed up to the challenge. "It could be on your floor later, Brooks, all you have to do is ask."
She reached catering to see much of the roster hanging out after a tiring pay-per-view event. The workers would begin to clean up soon, but all she wanted was a glass of water, which she received.
"Let's get one thing straight," she dictated, finding a seat as the men helplessly followed, "I don't ask. I make you beg."
"Is that right?" he asked, eyeing her up and down as if she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever met. Only, Leighton knew better.
She took her last sip of water before standing once again. "I don't know, Good," she spoke. "All you have to do is ask."
With that, the brunette walked off towards the locker room to grab her bags, waiting for Phil and AJ to travel to the hotel. Behind her, she felt the snickers of her new coworkers.
She didn't see, however, Jonathan Good admiring every inch of her as she left knowing she was the perfect match for him.
