"I know, Phil. I'm sorry," Leighton spoke through the phone as she sat on her hotel room bed. It was the day before Christmas Eve and her and Jon were still doing interviews and media for the company.

Phil was angry. He was missing the holidays with his sister and rehabbing a knee injury, and meanwhile the company was taking advantage of his sister and making her work overtime without getting fair pay.

Leighton hadn't minded. Money had been the last thing on her mind. She did well enough for herself and that's all that mattered to her. Leighton Brooks just wanted to be a wrestler.

"You'll be on a flight back tomorrow night? Are you sure?" Phil asked, not liking the fact that his sister would be flying alone on Christmas Eve.

Leighton heard a knock on her door as she stood from her bed. "They promised me today was my last day until after the New Year," she spoke, seeing Jon through the peep hole. He was sporting a black t-shirt and jeans with some stubble as his hands rested in his pockets. She opened the door, nodding for him to come in as he saw her with her phone in her hand.

Jon remained quiet, sighing as he sat on the edge of her bed. The media work had been draining on him just as much as it had been on Leighton. Normally he would've drank himself to sleep every night during this exhausting tour in order to push through it. He respected Leighton, though, and tried to maintain his two beers a night maximum.

"Alright, Leighton. I'll pick you up from the airport tomorrow. Keep me updated, okay?" Phil spoke on the other end.

"I will, Phil. Thank you. I love you," she responded, sincerely, as Phil returned the term of endearment.

"I love you, too, you bitch!" April yelled in the background, making Leighton laugh and shake her head.

"Love you, Ape," Leighton spoke before hanging up the phone. Leighton's brown eyes found Jon's blue ones as he raised an eyebrow towards her.

"Ape?" he asked.

"April," Leighton answered.

Jon chuckled and nodded before standing. "You ready?"

"As I'll ever be," Leighton grabbed her bag and jacket, walking past him and to the door. Jon followed, like always, as he reached around her to open the door, brushing his hand against her arm.

Leighton stiffened, feeling his touch. Though the two worked closely with one another, they didn't share physical contact often. She felt electric with his skin on hers. The brunette shook off her thoughts and walked through the door, hearing it click behind Jon.

"Want to grab dinner after this?" Jon asked as it had been almost four in the afternoon.

Leighton chuckled, pressing the button for the elevator. "What is this, fifty first dates?" she joked, referencing the movie not thinking Jon would get it. The two had been spending an awful lot of time together and had learned a lot about one another. Jon tried to remain stoic about his past, but Leighton found things he was interested in to pick him apart.
