When Wilbur left, it broke Tommy.

Wilbur was only supposed to be spending the week camping with a friend, but days turned to weeks, weeks to months, and months to a full year.

Tommy was inconsolable, no one could fully understand the bond the boy had with his brother. No pair could ever have matched it. They were inseparable.

They would prank their father together, giggling incessantly at eachothers brilliant ideas to drive their father mad.

They'd sit and gossip about the assholes in their school, all the scandals students got themselves in entertained them to no end.

They were constantly hanging out with eachothers friends, secretly making fun of eachother when their brother wasn't listening in.

With Wilbur gone, Tommy began to become withdrawn from everything he used to enjoy. Everyone he used to hang out with barely saw him, not even his family.

It was safe to say that without Wilbur, Tommy was a shell of a once lively boy.

His father, Phil, tried time and time again to try and console his little boy, but nothing worked. Phil was too, grieving the disappearance of his eldest son and to see his youngest suffer so severely because of it made his heart ache.

It had been a year since the missing persons case had started, Tommy started hopeful that his brother had just got lost along the way and was trying to return home. Maybe he was with a fae of some kind, a nice one though, and he'd bring it back with him, maybe he'd have a new brother. But Wilbur never did come home.

He began to stop hoping after the first few months, instead just becoming numb to it all. Putting up a wall to stop it happening again.

He didn't seek out a new best friend, he couldn't bare the thought of replacing him, even if he did abandon his younger brother .

Tommy would give anything to just hear Wilburs voice one last time. No price was too expensive to see him again, to be reunited with his brother.

He dreamt of what Wilbur was getting up to right now, was he doing okay? Eating enough? Taking care of himself? Was he even still alive.

Of course he still occasionally spoke to his other friends. Just updates on various things.

"They closed the case yesterday, he was presumed dead." The boy said.

"Tubbo I know, don't you think they tell the family first!" Tommy responded, an irritated tone caking the sentence.

"Yeah I just thought your dad wouldn't want to risk upsetting you more by telling you that." Tubbo explained.

"Well he clearly did ok?" He almost shouted. "It's not like I'm gonna completely shut down because of it. I know he's never coming back and I don't care anymore okay!"

"Tommy-" the shorter boy started.

"Just fuck off." Tommy said definitively.

But, when all hope had seemingly drained from the blonde, a miracle happened.

He was just trying to have a nice walk in the woods, when he saw a familiar, lanky, guitar wielding brunette.

"Wilbur?" Tommy gasped. It couldn't be. Wilbur was gone, disappeared without a trace. Lost to time. This was some kind of trick!

"Toms," the supposed Wilbur said weakly, before collapsing.

"HE WENT THIS WAY, COME ON!!" An unknown voice from the distance shouted. This wasn't good.

As untrusting as Tommy had became, he couldn't just leave the doppelgänger here. Even if it was slim, he could still be Tommys beloved brother.

And so he grabbed him and ran. As fast as his little legs could carry the two. But it wasn't enough. And eventually, he tripped.

"Why what do we have here?" The voice said. It came from a tall man, dressed in a all black with a forest green cloak covering his face, he wielded a sparkling netherite sword and axe. "Seems as though we have a new little plaything."

"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!?!" Tommy screamed, "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH MY BROTHER?!?"

"Brother? You, are the boy Wilbur wanted to get home to? Ha! Pathetic." He laughed." You may call me your new leader, Dream. And as for what I want with the two of you? Well Wilbur decided to besmirch me and camp in my lands, even when warned not to, and so I feel within my rights to make sure he never leaves, if he wanted to be here so much."

"And me?" Tommy asked, bile building up as he got more and more scared.

"I was just getting to that, rather rude of you to interrupt, we'll have to make sure you don't do that again," he started again. "Your role in this is that we can use you to get to Wilbur, and if he knows your with us and suffering, he won't dare to even try and leave."

"That's sick!" He cries. "All this for him trespassing?!"

"And calling me a brain dead sham when I told him I rule over this place, I must add." Dream laughed again, pointing is sword at the boy. "Now don't move and this won't be as painful."

Dream crouched down and clipped a bracelet around Wilburs wrist, on which there were were strange incantations.

"Oh come now, it won't be so bad Tommy, you won't actually be treated badly... unless you misbehave that is." Dream laughed.

"I'm not gonna do that! That'd be lying to Wilbur! And how the fuck do you know my name?" The boy asked.

"Oh Wilbur talked about you a lot." He answered. "Now come he-"

He was cut off by a crash from behind, it was Wilburs friend!

"TECHNO!?!" He shouted, relieved to see him.

Techno just gave him a look as if to say, 'take Wilbur and run, I'll be fine.'

And so he did. As Techno began to slash at their assailant, Tommy grabbed Wilbur and ran, ran as far away as possible. Fearful of the consequences of staying.

The hood of the cloak fell, revealing a fae like creature. Wilbur really got himself into some shit for getting on a faes bad side.

"GET THEM!" Dream screeched as more faes emerged from the trees. The wind whooshed in Tommys ears, it hurt to carry on running but he couldn't stop! He had to get away, he couldn't fuck up, who knows what would happen if they failed.

The duo almost didn't make it to town. Villagers seemed startled at the sight of the once missing man, passed out in his little brothers arms.

But finally, they were home, Phil was looking for Tommy, he was supposed to be home ages ago. His father was likely worried sick at the prospect of loosing another son.

"Tommy?" His father called from their home, fear creeping into his voice, however when he saw the duo, his heart stopped. His sons? Both of them? Alive and here to greet him? Holy shit. "Tommy! WILBUR?!"

Their family was at last reunited. Phil and Tommy balling their eyes out as Wilbur slowly awoke.

"Oh god the fuck happened," he paused for a moment to take in his surroundings, before noticing his family. "D-dad? To-ommy? Fuck how is this real?"

They all just wept, clinging to eachother for what felt like hours, how was this real? How were after over a year were they reunited? It felt too good to be true.

Luckily though, it wasn't, this was Wilbur. The real deal. And Tommy couldn't be happier.

His brother was home, and he could finally heal.
