sunoo smiled at himself in the mirror of the prep room, admiring his perfectly chosen outfit by his maids. today was his 100th birthday, the righteous age where you become king.

he was the prince of the first kingdom of vampires, where they were straight decedents from count dracula himself. there were two more kingdoms across korea, varying in style and how vampiric they are, with the first kingdom being pure bread vampires.

sunoo's family was from the kim dynasty with his father being the first born of his grandfather and so one. they were the most powerful family in all the kingdoms, having some superiority over the other kingdoms given to them by God himself.

"king sunoo in the house!" his friends, park sunghoon yelled as he entered the room. sunoo giggled as he opened his arms for a hug. "the first virgin king in the kingdom." sunghoon snickered while taking his prince crown from the vanity.

sunoo froze at the sentence, furrowing his eyebrows tightly. sunghoon just smirked while putting the crown on sunoo's head.

"not sex, sunoo. and you'd be chastised for being de flowered so soon." sunghoon snickered. "you've never sucked human blood." sunghoon tsked. sunoo made a face, punching his shoulder slightly.

"yeah i have! i drink human blood all the time!" sunoo retaliated, pushing the older away.

"no, i said suck. you drink human blood, but how many times have you dug your teeth into a human neck and drank them dry?" sunghoon asked. sunoo looked away in shame, knowing the answer was zero.

"first time for everything. and i'll be the first virgin king i guess." sunoo shrugged, fixing his crown to be centered.

"good luck with that." sunghoon scoffed before leaving the room. sunoo rolled his eyes before hearing a bell chime, it was time.

"sunoo~ it's time!" his mother sang from the doorway. the boy ran over to her and linked their arms as tradition. they reached his father at the other end of the church.

"it is your time." he said in his stone cold voice, walking besides them. the three walked to the alter and stood before the priest. his parents released him and watched the priest pull the crown from its designated case.

"kim sunoo, are you ready to rule this kingdom, tend to it, nourishing us, and keep the vampires safe?" the priest asked.

"i do."

"with the consent from the previous king, your father, and God as our witness, i pronounce you king of the-" the priest cuts himself off as he sniffs the small boy. he erupts into a hiss, pointing menacingly at sunoo.

"what's the problem, father?" his dad asked with confusion in his eyes.

"he is a virgin! no one can be king without having sunk their teeth into a virgin human!" he yelled. everyone in the church gasped, making sunoo's eyes drain color.

"but father, our son is not safe outside of this kingdom! he could be in danger out there!" his mom yelled back.

"no king can never have seen a human! until then, you will continue to be prince sunoo and shunned from this church until you have murdered a human and brought its blood back to the fountain of sorrows by the next full moon!" the priest jeered, making sunoo tear up.

everyone gasped again. the fountain of sorrows protected by sooha was a dangerous place, guaranteed for a human to die. murdering a human to become king wasn't mandatory, but sunoo has waited too long to just bite one, forcing the measures to be extreme.

the family left, his father infuriated and mother in tears. "how have you never let him leave the kingdom?! i've asked you to before!" his dad shouted once they had entered the carriage.

"he isn't ready! my baby is too fragile and sweet for those filthy humans!" she snapped back, holding the crying boy.

sunoo was so ashamed in himself, but also pissed at his mother. she was terrified of the human world ever since she watched her parents get burned in the center of town. it was centuries ago, yet was engraved in her mind.

"16 year old nishimura riki has been missing for 12 hours now, and the city is still on the lookout for him." the news reporter said. jungwon frowned before jongseong turned the tv off.

"i get it, hyung." jungwon groaned as he rolled onto his back. jongseong sat next to jungwon and sighed. "this doesn't prove that vampires took riki, it just proves that people can be kidnapped."

"still, it's the morning now, they should've found him." jongseong huffed out. jungwon rolled his eyes, too tired to care about his vampire antics.

jongseong and jungwon were great friends, having lived next to each other since primary school. the park family come from a long line of vampire slayers, hence jongseong's passion to find one.

"even if there were still any vampires, wouldn't that be kinda cool?" jungwon smirked, leaning closer to jongseong. the older tsked loudly as he got off the bed. "hyung they aren't that scary." he scoffed.

"i'm not scared, yang. i want them all gone so we can be safe!" jongseong protested. the younger ignored him and pulled out his phone to play games. "yah, listen to me." jongseong said firmly, snatching jungwon's phone from his hands.

"hyung, your family fucking killed all of them in like 1890, give it a rest!" jungwon whined, flailing around on jongseong's bed.

"whatever, but the day you die and go missing, don't come crying to me." jongseong scoffed.

"i won't because i'll be dead." jungwon said mockingly.
