"The patient's ... examination reveals fractures in the --- --- of the right ... These fractures require --- evaluation and management". Foggy words were hitting your ears... who is talking? Your brain spun around trying to make sense of the conversation but your skull was pounding. " --- say her arm is broken --- that shit doesn't matter right now she --- surgery!" This voice sounded familiar. He sounded familiar.

"The MRI image is done. The --- is situated adjacent to the hippocampal formation. This --- leads to significant --- and memory-" A soft feminine voice spoke, her voice shook as she spoke. Under the same stress as the angry male voice. "Then we'll just have to do our job Perfectly ..."

...

You opened your eyes. Finding yourself in the warm embrace of your husband. He had finally slept... You let out a soft sigh. The odd dream leaves you to think. You sat up looking at Stephans face, it was odd seeing him with a full beard... But don't mind that right now. You told yourself. You walked to the small bathroom and stared at yourself in the mirror. "Fracture..." you muttered to yourself. You lifted your arm, you remembered a large bruise on your lower right arm when you woke up in the hospital. Maybe it really was some sort of memory.

"What else did I hear...? Hippocampus... what's that...?" You shrugged your shoulders. You've heard  the word before but couldn't place what it was. You pushed your thoughts away, opting to get ready for the day.

"Mornin'..." you heard Stephen's raspy morning voice. You looked up at him as you brushed your hair. "Morning love. Sleep well?" He just nodded as he started to get ready for the day. When he was done you dragged him to the bed to brush his hair. He was too tall for you to have him stand... "Thanks..." he muttered out grumpily. "Mhm.. I have a question." He makes a quiet humming noise urging you to ask it. "What's a hippocampus?" You stopped brushing to see if he knew the answer.

"The part of the brain responsible for memories." He muttered with his eyes closed. It was like he spouted the fact out without registering why you could be asking. "Ah I see thanks." He nods.

You moved to sit on the bed next to him. He rubbed his eyes to shake the sleepiness away, you tilted your head and looked him in the eyes. "What was 'Seated adjacent to the hippocampus'?" you asked using the phrasing from your dream...?

Stephen paused. His eyes narrowed at you. "You're pushing me for answers again. I've told you before that you don't want to know-" You interrupted him.

"I don't want to know... or you don't want to remember." You accused him.

"y/n, enough. I know I've said I'll tell you but right now is not the right time." You frowned. "Why?"

"Because! It's not exactly fun performing life threatening surgery on your wife!" Stephen hastily stood up. Leaving you alone in the room. "He did surgery 0n me? How serious was this...?" You asked yourself putting your hand on the left side of your head. That's when you felt it. How had you not noticed this before... a small scar hidden in your hair...

You sighed out. He was so stubborn... 'It makes sense now why he hasn't told me about it. Must be very hard to think about...' You got up from your seated position on the bed. Stephan was slowly getting better. Having been sent to Mt Everest yesterday... but he's been using that ring quite a lot. You decided to walk around the temple for the day to do random training and just to think about what happened during the morning. You eventually ended up in the library to start ranting to Wong.

"Why are you talking to me about your marriage problems?" You slightly glared at him. "They're not problems. I just want to know everything. I'm curious." You said, huffing out a sigh. "Hmm, well I'm not asking for you." You rolled your eyes. "You're boring. I'll just have to integrate him more." You said with a smirk on your face. "Don't you have more studying you need to do?" You groaned as he dumped a bunch of books into your arms. "Fine, fine. I shall get to work then."

You stubbornly walked to Stephans room, which turned into yours as well at this point. But you sat at the desk and read for a bit. You didn't notice Stephan was in the bathroom. He walked out and he softly smiled when he saw you studying.

"Surprised to see you reading something other than those novels and comics you'd buy."

His sudden voice scared you for a moment. You looked up at him. "Although I don't remember, I do have to say it feels weird actually studying something." He nodded in understanding as he walked to the bed to sit close to you. "You'll get the hang of it. But I'll tell you. You didn't get into a normal accident that day." You closed the book and turned your full attention to him. You tilted your head as you waited for him to speak. "New York is crazy, as I'm sure you found out easily. But, be thought it was a bullet at first, that you got caught up in the fight that happened. But, here I'll show you." He reached into his bag that sat next to the bed. He pulled out a stone. It was a crystal around the same size as a bullet but not in the same shape. It was sharp and almost clear if it weren't for the natural fractures on the inside.

"We don't know how it happened or what kind of crystal it is. But this is what took your memories away."

"How did it get lodged in my head like a bullet though..?" Stephan could only shrug. "Here you can hold it if you want." You nodded and grabbed the crystal from his shaky hands. It was beautiful.. Just ignore the fact it almost killed you and wiped your memories. Something about it was familiar...

"Why'd you keep it?" You asked him. "I was curious, I took it to a shop to get tested but they couldn't tell for certain what it was. A couple of guys thought it was a diamond from how tough it was. Besides knowing you, you would've wanted to see it. Maybe even keep it because you're a bit crazy." you chuckled. "I barely know myself, but that sounds very accurate. I do want to keep it. Maybe I'll remember something if I focus hard enough." You squinted your eyes at it but nothing came to mind. "Nope, nothing." You looked back up to him and he let out a chuckle. "Oh, you shaved! I like your goatee." He patted you on the head.

"You just now noticed?"

[I'm no medical professional. so take it how you want. Might be unrealistic that the hair is perfectly intact hiding the scarred area. But I guess Stephen really wanted you to keep your hair. Also idk what imma do about the crystal thing. I just felt like a bullet was not it...]
