Beth
Beth asked for a break as they were going pretty fast and she was carrying Judith as well as her bag so in the middle of the tracks, Beth sat down while Daryl placed himself in front of them with his crossbow aim in front of him.
That's when it happened, hope.
Beth had put Judith between her legs, sat with her when Judith got up and started to walk without any help. She was wobbly but she took a few steps in Daryl's direction.
Beth gasped out loud and called to Daryl in an excited voice "Daryl, look !"
Daryl turned around, panicked, but when he realized what was happeining, a genuine smile started to form on his face and he got down to catch Judith as she was going his way.
"C'mon, lil asskicker, you can do it." Encouraged Daryl in a sweet voice as he extended his arms.
Suddenly, they heard the growls coming from the forest and a few walkers came out from their right.
Daryl rushed to catch Judith and helped Beth to her feet and she took her bag and they started running.
"Can't have five fucking minutes of peace." Grunted Daryl when they were a far enough distance away to slow down.
"She was going your way. Judy knows."
"Knows what ?"
"She knows she can trust you." Stated Beth with a big grin.
They were more than halfway there when in the distance, they saw a group of people on the tracks, going in the opposite direction, straight to them.
"Take Judith and go hide in the forest, now !" Ordered Daryl.
"I'm not leaving you !" Protested Beth with a frown.
"Beth, think about Judith. It's the smartest thing to do right now. You'll come back when i'm sure it's safe."
Beth did as she was told and ran to the forest with Judith in her arms to hide behind a three. Far enough so that nobody could see her but close enough so that she could see Daryl.
Daryl didn't move and all she could hear was her ragged breathing as she waiting for something to happen, suddenly, Daryl started to run in the direction of the people and he was out of her vision.
What was happening ? Did he just leave them here ? Was he okay ?
Her hands trembled as she waited and waited but there was no sign of Daryl.
She started to count from five hundreds backwards and decided that when she was at zero, she would come out and see what the fuck was going on.
She didn't manage to hit one hundred though because she suddenly heard Daryl calling her name loudly and she ran back to the tracks with her knife in one hand and Judith in the other.
She couldn't realize what was happening before Rick and Carl came running to her. Or more precisely, to Judith.
Beth felt her heart fill with joy as she saw her family alive and well. She gave Judith willingly to her father and looked in the direction of Daryl with a painful grin and he looked back with a little smile.
Maggie crashed her body against Beth's and they stayed hugging for a long time, even after that, they stayed close together
Rick kept Judith as they started to walk all together and the group explained to them what happened at the sanctuary. It was horrible and once again, Daryl was right. They weren't good people. Maybe he was right when he said that there wasn't any good people left.
