Kaylah wondered around the cafeteria, wondering where to sit.

I could go sit with DJ and Leshawna, or with Bridgette maybe...

Suddenly she heard someone calling her name. Turns out, it was  Cody. He speed walked over to her. "Hey! I was just wondering if I can uh, sit with you?" Cody awkwardly scratched behind his neck. "It's just that Noah isn't really here today because he's sick and I kinda want to sit with someone. That really isn't one of my other friends. I wanna get to know you, you know?"

Kaylah smiled. "Of course! I was planning on sitting with DJ and Leshawna if you wanna join us!" Kaylah smiled.

Cody let out a hushed laugh. "Yeah, I'd like that."

Kaylah lead him to said table. Leshawna and DJ greeted the two.

"Hey girl! Hey white boy!" Leshawna said. Kaylah waved at DJ and Leshawna.

"Y'all, this is a friend of mine. This is Cody."

Cody waved at the other two.

"What's up man? You did really great at the party two days ago. Say, you're dating that Noah kid, right?" DJ greeted. Cody nodded.

"'Sup white boy! How you doing?" Leshawna said happily.

"I'm good, thought I'd sit with y'all since Noah isn't here today." Cody chuckled.

As they all laughed, Kaylah's eyes wandered off to Bridgette. She saw that her and Geoff were talking. She wondered if they were dating or not. Well, considering they were making out in the hallways earlier, she would say they were.

"Earth to Kaylah!" Cody waved his hand in front of Kaylah's face.

"Sorry!"

It was lunch time, Tyler was sitting with his newly found friend group; Eva, Lightning, Brick, Scott, and Jo.

"You bitch!" Someone threw an apple at Eva. She stood up and turned around. She calmed down a bit after she saw who threw it.

"Sorry Eva! Love you!" Izzy yelled across the room.

Eva rolled her eyes in response. She sat back down.

"Eva, you have to get your anger issues under control. You already strangled homeschool, man!" Tyler said. He felt a vibration from his pocket. He checked his phone and saw he had a text from his dad.

Dad: you better come home today or else.

Tyler's eyes widened in horror. Lightning noticed this.

"What's wrong man?"

Tyler slowly looked up at the group of friends. Everyone had a concerned look on their face.

"Well, are you going to tell us or not?!" Eva slammed her fist on the table.

"I just, uh, need to find someone. That's all!" Before anyone could say anything, Tyler ran from the table.

------------------

Lunch had ended by now. Tyler was running through the hallways looking for Alejandro, or Heather. After what felt like an eternity, he found one of the two.

"Heather! I need you real quick!" He ran up to her.

"What do you need?"

"It's my dad!"

Heathers eyes widened. "Wait, what do you mean it's your dad?"

Tyler quickly grabbed his phone and showed her the message. As she was reading, she saw another message had popped up.

"Ty, another message popped up." Tyler was shaking at this point. Heather read

Dad: actually, scratch that. I'm picking you up right now.

"Ty," Tyler was motionless. He couldn't think, he couldn't process what was happening.

"Ty."

He stood there still.

"Tyler! C'mon, we're skipping for the day. I don't care what you have to say, this is for your own good! I'll text Alejandro about this later." Heather grabbed his hand and ran to the front of the school.

°•°•

Heather and Tyler hurriedly buckled their seat belts and dashed off. Tyler was freaking out, screaming and everything.

"Shut the fuck up! Do they track your location?" Tyler shook his head.

"Some parents. Mkay, were going to my place. We'll grab you a snack and just spend time while we figure out what the hell we'll do. Got it?"

Tyler nodded violently.

"Cool. Now, stop panicking. Seriously, it's distracting me."

-------------

"Ah shit. My parents are mad about the ashes."

"Again with the ashes!? Dude!" Duncan laughed. "What, did they text you?"

"Yup. Dude, this will be the last text I'll receive for another year bro!" Geoff looked down, sadly.

"Man, is that their main concern? How'd they even find out?" Duncan questioned.

"Man, they were in a family heirloom vase. We broke it."

Duncan laughed a bit to loudly. The teacher looked at the two boys.

"You two! Detention!"

Geoff tried to argue back. "Cmon miss! My parents are already mad at me!"

"Well, Geoffrey, are they mad at you for your grades, or that you hang out with this delinquent?" The teacher snorted back. Geoff stayed silent.

"So both? Geoff, that's two hours. Duncan, you know how long." Duncan flipped off the teacher.

"3 hours, damn it!"
